absolutely bizarre scene in the mens 5k. The top 5 places in the points standings are coming from the slow section because the fast section couldn't bother to actually race until the last mile. Embarrassing performance from some great runners couldn't even be bothered to break 14 minutes

Laughable. Serves them right. Nothing I hate more than refusing to run fast.

The men end Day 1 (4 of 17 events scored) in 12th place with 3 points from Kyzaiah Stone's placing in the High Jump. Missed out on one of the better opportunities to put up points with Shanklin and Harrison just following the pack to a horrendously slow time in the 5k.

No passing the buck here. Shanklin led for 1600 (from 800 to 2400) in a pedestrian 4:41, 14:40pace. Final 1600 for the leaders was 4:09, so at least they tried at the end. If you're gonna play games, you should do it when there's only one heat.

Brett Gardner finishes 1 spot out of the finals in the mile prelims. As per usual, the runners in the final heat had the advantage of knowing a time and got both time qualifiers from that heat.

Cameron Murray cruises into the 60m Hurdles finals tomorrow, winning his prelim heat in a time of 7.69 seconds.

Already put the 5k out of my mind for my own sanity

NC State men end Day 2 tied for 7th place with 14 points with 6 of 17 events scored.

Obviously tomorrow is the big day and NC State is well positioned to push for a top 5 finish in the conference with Cameron Murray in the 60m hurdles, Alex Lang in the 60m dash, Ian Shanklin and Ian Harrison in the 3000m with good chances to score and Jamar Davis in the triple jump in with a good chance as well.

Alex Lang gets 5th in the 60m dash.

Cameron Murray unfortunately fell in the 60m hurdles and DNF

Ian Shanklin and Ian Harrison take 5th and 6th respectively in the Men's 3000m, separated by just a tenth of a second and adding 7 points for men's team score.

Jamar Davis also took 7th in the Triple Jump putting up 2 more points.

With the regular season finished (All NCAA qualifying results had to be posted by last night), here's how the Men are looking when it comes to qualifying for nationals. Top16 qualify in individual events, then they go down the list to replace athletes who choose to scratch the event.

Alex Lang is qualified 12th in the 60m Dash with his time of 6.57 seconds.

Cameron Murray is qualified 5th in the 60m Hurdles with his time of 7.62 seconds. Josh Brockman is also qualified 16th in this event with a time of 7.69 seconds. But he didn't run the last regular season meet or at ACC's so i'm assuming he's injured.

Ian Shanklin is in wait and see mode in the 5000m as he had the 19th best time this season and thus would need 3 runners to choose to scratch the race. Unfortunately the 5k indoors is not a race that is scratched very often but you never know.

Those are the only men's athletes qualified or still in with a chance at the moment.

Athlete scratches are in for NCAA races.

None of our qualified runners scratched an event. Despite not running ACC's, Josh Brockman is entered in the 60m hurdles.

Ian Shanklin will be heartbroken. 2 men scratched the 5k when he needed 3, so he'll be the first man out of the national meet,

Closing the doors on the Indoor season after the National Meet. Good season overall, great performances by Alex Lang and Josh Brockman to have All-American Finishes at Nationals and Cameron Murray to qualify. Also saw new school records in the 60m hurdles by Cameron Murray, 600m run by Kyle Durham, 1000m run by Zach Hughes, and 5000m run by Ian Shanklin.

Update on where the incoming recruits for next season are after the high school indoors season is completed as well.

Tyson Adams - Incredible season for Adams. Finished the season with the #1 Long Jump in the country indoors with a jump of 25' 1.5" (and a NC HS state record). Was the NC 4A Champ in the Long Jump as well. Also competed in the 55m dash where he had the 9th fastest time in the state, the 200m dash where he had the 13th fastest time in the state, and the Triple Jump where he had the 13th best jump in the state. Likely to focus on jumps in college with the occasional sprint races.

Quentin Clarke - Finished 2nd in the NC Independent Schools state champs in the 300m dash. Also had the 15th fastest 300m dash time in the state of NC with a 35.32s. Also competed in the 55m dash finishing 11th at the NC Independent Schools state meet. I think he'll end up running 200/400 in college.

Marco Evans - Great season for Marco Adams. Competed in the 1000m, 1600m and 3200m this year, finished 3rd and 5th respectively at the NC 4A state meet in the 1600 and 3200. This year he ran the 6th fastest 1000m time in NC , 5th fastest 1600m time, and 5th fastest 3200m time. Going to be an all around distance athlete in college, Mile-XC. Really similar HS profile to Brett Gardner.

Krister Sjoblad - Great season for Sjoblad as well, similar profile to Evans as he competed in the 1000m, 1600m and 3200m. He finished 5th at the NC 4a state meet in the 1600m and 6th in the 3200m. He had the 9th fastest 3200m time and the 10th fastest 1600m time in the state this year. Also projects to run the spectrum of distance events in college 1600m-XC though i could see him focusing on the longer stuff.

Elliott McArthur - didn't compete in indoors as Minnesota traditionally doesn't host an Indoor competition. Has competed well in 800-XC so tough to say where he projects in college. Think he'll eventually settle in at the mile/3k area in college and compete in XC as well.
