State men struggled today and finished at +6 as a team. They are in 11th place out of 13 teams. Only 7 shots from being in the top 5, but they have to be better tomorrow and Wednesday.

Feels like the men's golf team has been going backwards in recent years

Apparently a very rough day for all the teams. At least 6 teams were double digit over par including Mississippi State who was leading after the first round and continues to lead. They were +10 today.

Pack moved up for a tie for 7th with Louisville and were +8 for the day and +14 for the two days. They are 5 shots behind the 5th place team, so if they have a good round tomorrow they might can move up and make it to the finals.

Looking into the history of the course they're playing is super interesting. It seems to me one of the most private courses in the country and has the 3 holes of amens corner there. There course was built without any permitting so the developer put hundreds of trees along the perimeter and only has a gate with a security trailer as the entrance.

Incredible performance by senior Maximilian Steinlechner! Steinlechner shot a second round of 70 and is now tied for 1st at the @NCAA regional heading into tomorrow's final round. The team is tied for 7th just two positions out advancing to the national championship.

The NC State men's golf team wrapped up the 2022-23 season on Wednesday afternoon with a 10th place finish at the Morgan Hill NCAA Regional played at The Institute Golf Club.

Maximilian Steinlechner was one of just three golfers in the 75-man field to finish at par or below in all three rounds as he finished in a tie for second place. Steinlechner recorded back-to-back rounds of 70 on Monday and Tuesday to enter Wednesday's final round in a tie for first place. The Innsbruck, Austria native shot an even-par 72 in the final round to finish two shots back of the winner, Florida State's Luke Clanton.

The NC State senior had an opportunity to advance to next week's NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz., as the low finisher in the field from a team not advancing, but fell in the third playoff hole to Loyola Marymount's Riley Lewis. Both players par-ed the first two holes of the playoff, but Lewis birded the third playoff hole to win the tiebreaker and advance to the championship.

Steinlechner's finish is the best for an NC State golfer at an NCAA Regional since 2012 when Albin Choi won the Ann Arbor Regional.

Michael La Sasso finished in a tie for 24th place in the final tournament of his rookie campaign. The NC State freshman shot 74 in the first and second rounds before a final round 73.

Spencer Oxendine finished in a tie for 55th place. The Fayetteville, N.C., native improved every round of the tournament as he shot a 78 in the first round, 76 in the second and 75 in the third.

Carter Graf finished one shot behind Oxendine in a tie for 57th place.

Brandon Einstein played the first two rounds of the tournament for the Pack, including a 76 in the first round on Monday. Joey Lenane subbed into the lineup on Wednesday to make the first postseason appearance of his collegiate career.

As a team, NC State finished in 10th place, but was just three shots back of seventh-place finisher Missouri.

Mississippi State won the event with a team score of one-under par. BYU, Florida State, Baylor and Pepperdine joined the Bulldogs in advancing to the NCAA Championships.

NC State wraps up its sixth season under head coach Press McPhaul. McPhaul has led the Pack into the postseason every year it has been held (no postseason in 2020 because of worldwide pandemic) while at the helm and has guided NC State to 11 tournament titles.

NC State Lineup

Disappointing season
Three of the four teams advancing to the national semis match play are ACC

Do we have any top recruits coming in? I suppose that can change this summer with the transfer portal?

and Virginia just missed an upset of 2 seed Florida. ACC is tough league in this sport...Don't think Press is the problem...

Interesting thing about golf is it doesn't really matter how strong the ACC teams are, except during post season play.
Unc being great isn't why we struggled this year.

Assume we lose Max, Einstein? Graf?

I have not seen anything about incoming players at GoPack nor on the golf Twitter site

I don't keep up with softball…is this NIL? Personality conflict? Seems like he would have been #1 next year. Disappointing to say the least I would love a great golf team.
