The NC State men's golf team finished the two-day General Hackler Championship held at The Dunes Beach & Golf Club in sixth place on Tuesday.

Michael La Sasso paced the Pack with a third-place finish, one shot behind the co-medalists. The Raleigh native shot under-par all three rounds on his way to finishing 12-under par. La Sasso's score of 12-under par is the best by an NC State player since Maximilian Steinlechner shot 13-under par at the Rod Myers Invitational in September 2021.

Maximilian Steinlechner was next for the Pack in a tie for 17th place. Steinlechner shot below par in the firt and second rounds on his way to a three-round score of two-under par.

Spencer Oxendine finished in a tie for 31st place. The Fayetteville, N.C., native had the best round of the tournament by an NC State golfer with a six-under par 66 in the second round.

Ethan Choi finished in a tie for 51st place and Brandon Einstein was next for the Pack in a tie for 58th place.

Playing as an individual, Carter Graf finished in a tie for 31st place.

ETSU won the tournament by six shots over second-place Virginia. Auburn was three shots back of the Cavaliers. NC State finished in sixth place, five shots back of Louisville and Kent State who tied for fourth place.

The 14-team field featured eight teams ranked in the top-50 in the Golfstat rankings and the Pack finished ahead of four of the top-50 teams.

The Pack is back in action Sunday, March 26 when it begins play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay held at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.

The NC State men's golf team shot its best 54-hole score and best score related to par of the season, finishing with a team score 832, 32-under par to finish in third place at the Hootie at Bulls Bay event held at Bulls Bay Golf Club.

NC State had four of its six golfers competing finish with their best 54-hole scores of the season as the Pack as a team shot under par in all three rounds.

Maximilian Steinlechner led the Pack with a final scorecard of 70-68-68 to finish with a 206 and 10-under par. The ninth place finish is the fifth top-10 finish of the season for Steinlechner in eight events.

It's the best 54 hole score and best score related to par of the season for the Innsbruck, Austria native. Steinlechner went below par in all three rounds and has now shot par or below par in 15 of 24 rounds played this season. Steinlechner's second and third round scores of 68 were the lowest rounds of the season for the NC State senior.

Spencer Oxendine was next for the Pack, one shot back of Steinlechner in a tie for tenth place. Oxendine finished with a scorecard of 69-66-72 to his best 54-hole score (207), best score related to par (-9) and best finish (t-11th) of the season.

Brandon Einstein finished one shot back of Oxendine in a tie for 14th place. The Clemmons, N.C., native played all three rounds at par or below par (67-72-69) on his way to his best 54-hole score (208) and best score related to par (-8) of the season)

Michael La Sasso finished in 29th place at four-under par. The freshman improved his score every round (74-70-68) on his way to a total of 212. La Sasso has now finished below par in three of the four tournaments he's played in this spring.

Carter Graf rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 68th place. After shooting a 78 in the opening round, Graf rebounded with rounds of 73 and 71 in the final two rounds to finish at six-over par for the tournament.

Playing as an individual, Joey Lenane put together the top performance of his young career as he finished in a tie for 16th place. The freshman played all three rounds at below par (67-71-71) on the way to the best 54-hole score (209) and best score related to par (-7) of his collegiate career.


ETSU won the tournament by seven shots over second-place New Mexico. The Lobos edged the Pack by one shot for second place.

NC State is back in action Friday, April 7 when it hosts the Stitch Intercollegiate. The final tournament of the regular season for the Pack, the 16-team Stitch Intercollegiate will be held at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The teams will play 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday.

The NC State men's golf team closed the ACC Championship in eighth place after three rounds of play at the Country Club of North Carolina.

Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia and Duke finished in the top-four of stroke play to advance to match play to determine the ACC Team Champion.

Wake Forest's Michael Brennan defeated Georgia Tech's Horoshi Tai on the third playoff hole to win the ACC Men's Golf Individual Championship.

NC State was led by freshman Michael La Sasso who finished in a tie for 19th place on the individual leaderboard at one-over par. La Sasso's final round of three-under par 69 was the best round by an NC State golfer for the tournament.

Maximilian Steinlechner was next for the Pack, one shot back of La Sasso in a tie for 23rd place. Steinlechner, along with La Sasso, paced NC State in round one with a one-under par 71.

Brandon Einstein finished in a tie for 28th place, one shot back of Steinlechner. Einstein had his best round of the tourney on Sunday, shooting even-par 72.

Carter Graf was one shot back of Einstein in a tie for 34th place and Spencer Oxendine rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 44th place.

The 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Selection Show is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 at 1 p.m. ET and will air live on the Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals will be held May 15-17.

NC State has received a big into the NCAA Regionals in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
