Former Wolfpack tennis star Diana Shnaider brought home her first WTA title on Sunday, winning the Thailand Open as she defeated defending champion Zhu Linz 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 in Hua Hin, Thailand.
Unseeded in the tournament, Shnaider took down the top three seeds on her way to the title, which included wins over No. 2 seed Zhu and No.3 seed Wang Xiyu. During the tournament, she won all but two of the sets she played through the week.
Ranked No. 108 in the world heading into the tournament, Shnaider now ranks 73rd in the world following her first win of the year.
Only 19-years-old Shnaider becomes the second teenager to win a WTA title this season, joining world No. 3 Coco Gauff. This was Shnaider's second appearance in a WTA title, with her first coming against Ons Jabeur in the Ningbo Open
