Just checked the live WTA rankings and Shnaider has jumped to #11 in the world currently, a new career high. She was #13 when I checked yesterday.

Looking at the points, in order to get into the top 10 while at the Australian Open, she would probably need to win at least 2 more matches, and if Kasatkina (who is currently #10) were to lose in the first or second rounds she would pass her.

There was a fairly big upset in Shnaider's section of the draw, making her potential path to the quarterfinals much easier. Shnaider would have had to face #5 seed Zheng in the 4th round (if matches would have gone per seeding). But Zheng was upset yesterday by an unseeded player (36 year old Siegemund) in the 2nd round.

So if Shnaider can beat the 18 seed Vekic in the 3rd round, she will either face either Siegemund or #27 seed Pavlyuchenkova in the 4th round, and if Shnaider were to win in the 4th round, she likely faces #1 seed Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.
