The NC State women's basketball team never trailed Friday evening en route to beginning a season 1-0 for the 15th consecutive time, earning a 64-44 win over Jacksonville inside Reynolds Coliseum.
NC State dominated down low, scoring 46 points in the paint to Jacksonville's 10. Seniors
Chelsea Nelson and
Akela Maize played large roles in the effort, notching new career highs with 24 and 15 points, respectively. Nelson was a blistering 9-12 (.750) from the field during her 32 minutes on the court.
Redshirt sophomore guard
Kaila Ealey led all players with 10 rebounds. She and her teammates won the rebounding battle by a 49-40 margin.
NC State returns to action at home on Sunday against Davidson. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Wildcats is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Reynolds Coliseum with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.
