Did the Wolfpack Spark app work last night?

(BTW, I downloaded it yesterday - iphone - and apparently something in the pre-game player introductions music is what actually triggers it to "go off"... I ran it in demo mode at my office [yes, there is music in the demo] and it only flashes white light - not red and white).

Senior Chelsea Nelson and redshirt junior Kiara Leslie each put up double-double performances to lead the NC State women's basketball team to a 71-50 victory over South Alabama on Friday night inside Reynolds Coliseum. With the win, the Wolfpack is off to its seventh consecutive 4-0 start to a season.

Sophomore Aislinn Konig joined Nelson (10) and Leslie (10) in double figures. She was NC State's leading scorer on the night, tallying 13 points on the way to her second double-digit scoring performance in a row. The Wolfpack guard shot 3-7 (.429) from behind the three-point line in addition to dishing out a team-high four assists.

The Wolfpack outrebounded the Jaguars 63-36. The team was especially active on the offensive boards, snagging 29 compared to the Jaguars' 14. Leslie led all players with 12 total rebounds, an impressive seven of those being offensive, and Nelson added 10 of her own.

NC State heads to Norfolk, Va., on Nov. 20 to face Old Dominion for the squad's first road trip of the season. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. from the Ted Constant Convocation Center and will be broadcast on WatchESPN. NC State will then travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to compete in the relocated Puerto Rico Clasico. At the competition, NC State will take on Alabama (Nov. 23) and South Dakota State (Nov. 24).

The NC State women's basketball team (6-2) led for 22:30 of the game's 40 minutes but fell 57-53 at Rutgers Thursday evening in the 2017 installment of the B1G/ACC Challenge inside the Rutgers Athletic Center.

The Wolfpack earned a dominating 44-27 edge on the glass, but was forced into 22 turnovers by the Scarlet Knights, from which they ultimately scored 21 points.

Chelsea Nelson led the Wolfpack with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She was joined in double figures by 13 points from Kiara Leslie and 11 from Aislinn Konig.

Tyler Scaife of Rutgers led all scorers with 27 points on 11-23 shooting from the field. She was the lone Scarlet Knight to register double figures.

"Missed free throws are still haunting us," NC State head coach Wes Moore said in his postgame radio interview with broadcaster Patrick Kinas. "Turnovers as well. Eleven assists and 22 turnovers. We were outscored 21-4 from turnovers. I don't feel like I did a very good job of figuring out how we can attack the zone. That bothered us when they went to the 1-2-2. I felt like maybe we could attack the gap some and get into the heart of the defense, but we didn't really do it.

"Very disappointing. We struggled shooting the ball. We did a great job on the boards and we handled their press well and they finally quit even trying to press us. We just didn't get the job done at the foul line and taking care of the ball."

NC State returns to Raleigh for the next four games. The Wolfpack will begin the home stretch by hosting Tulane on Sunday, Dec. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.

Nelson and Maize are great inside. Great to see Leslie starting to shine.

This team's Achilles' is outside shooting. If our guards aren't hitting (we seem to have streaky shooters rather than pure shooters) they need to be developing their offense out of their defensive pressure and get turnovers for easy scores.

Wes... would be well served to start pressuring more with the personnel he has on the outside. I'm not sure we're going to get this year's team to the next level, otherwise.

It IS a group of potential, with better athletes than we've had previously.
