LA had an underground subway system literally 100 years ago!

The city of Los Angeles in California had a vast underground subway system that operated for public use literally a century ago. I find it very concerning that most people don't know about this and that no one talks about this.

LA has one of the worst traffic problems in the country and if they really wanted to fix it they could because the underground tunnels and trains are already there!

So why did they close the subway down from the public and what exactly have these underground tunnels and trains been used for for the past century as the peasants sit in traffic for hours everyday to get to their miserable 9 to 5 jobs?
