Since the bourbon thread got a revive, decided it was time to bring back the old cooking thread. What is everyone making this weekend?

Doing Pastel Azteca and some Bolognese that I am going to turn a good portion of into lasagna

Sounds good. If you don't mind, post a pic of the finished product.

Combined birthday celebration with neighbor's new teen daughter this weekend. For our part of the dinner, I'm cooking flank steak (marinated in salt, pepper, citrus juices, garlic, annd chili powder) and making a chimichurri sauce. Wife is doing a goat cheese log with honey and toasted pecans app and caprese salad app with tomatoes and basil from garden. She's also making a cake.

Neighbors are doing shrimp skewers, hasselback potatoes, and grilled veggies.

Looks good. I especially like the melted cheese on top.

Depending on weather and availability, I'm thinking about doing a brisket this Saturday.

Smoking some beef short ribs that we get from a local butcher. Also picked up some ground beef for another time and some pancake mix for tomorrow morning. Beautiful day outside.

Decided on a mojo pork shoulder/butt for the games on Saturday. Gonna use it for Cuban sandwiches

Going to keep it easy today, burgers and dogs on the Weber for later.

Just got the pork into its last marinade. Gonna put it on right around the time the noon games start

Nice, BTW, we've got a few of those State cups around as well.

I'm getting ready to load the charcoal with my whiskey-blood orange chicken tenders. Unfortunately ran out of the Grant's triple-blend malt that I picked at a duty free port back in February, and had to use a 1/4 cup of that expensive Savage Rye instead.

I'd really like to do one of those but smoking stuff isn't really in my wheelhouse.

Believe me, I'm no pit master, but I have gotten better.

Wasn't planning on doing much today, but Teeter had one of my favorite cuts for a burger blend, so...

Nope, that sticky note is still sitting on my monitor. Will probably look at it for another couple of weeks before I actually get it done

Sounds just like me... eventually the wife beats me into submission and I have to actually handle whatever that overdue task du jour is.

I'm lucky, my wife just hires someone to clean our gutters. BTW, I fell off the ladder many years ago, and she said never again.

Something like that happened to me in my late forties. When I was cleaning the gutters of my aging in-laws for them, metal fatigue caused an old step ladder to collapse under me and after I hit the concrete patio, I had a pancake sized bruise on my thigh for weeks. At my immediate last house, I was doing that stuff with a 28 foot aluminum ladder into my mid-fifties. I bought my current place, a much more elderly friendly place because my in-laws needed to move in with us, but I also chose the house because I wasn't getting any younger either. The closest tree line is at least 75 feet away so clogging gutters don't bother me anymore.
