I'm lucky, my wife just hires someone to clean our gutters. BTW, I fell off the ladder many years ago, and she said never again.
Something like that happened to me in my late forties. When I was cleaning the gutters of my aging in-laws for them, metal fatigue caused an old step ladder to collapse under me and after I hit the concrete patio, I had a pancake sized bruise on my thigh for weeks. At my immediate last house, I was doing that stuff with a 28 foot aluminum ladder into my mid-fifties. I bought my current place, a much more elderly friendly place because my in-laws needed to move in with us, but I also chose the house because I wasn't getting any younger either. The closest tree line is at least 75 feet away so clogging gutters don't bother me anymore.
