Both have a meaningful purpose in life.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Both do the job. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd say Cook Out, I love their Reese shakes.

The only thing that really counts is the burger, and yeah, that's Char Grill…

I always enjoyed eating at the Char Grill on Hillsborough Street? Now the big debate, cheese or no cheese?
TheStorm

Cheese always.

Ha, I'm unfortunately at the age where hamburgers and hotdogs are rewards for a week of workouts and "sensible diets". (Man I miss the days when I could down a 3piece dinner at Bojangles and still lose weight) When my son is in town and we are out on a Saturday running errands, Char Grill on Hillsborough St is a fun stop. Of course, I get weird looks as I'm the guy who drops the tailgate on the truck, and sits there watching the traffic as I eat.

When he's at school, Cloos has been my go to of late.

Nothing wrong with dropping down the tailgate. We do the same, nothing is better than sitting on a tailgate on a beautiful evening and eating there. We also have done the same at Snoopy's.

Chili cheeseburger, chili dog, and chili fries were my jam at Cloos in college. I could probably do 2 of the 3 nowadays, but would probably feel like I'm dying on the ride home if I tried.

Char Grill had a nice run and I'd agreed at one point....then Cookout had their big run until like Covid. Now they are very mid (as the kids say). I'm not in Raleigh as much anymore but need to get back to definitively say and end /thread.

Any of you guys old enough to remember when the holy roller church was still on the side towards downtown next to Char Grill?

We would go after softball games in Garner in the evening or at night and when the church was in high gear, there was music and singing loud enough to hear at the Bell Tower !

Sometimes our games would end around 10:30 - 10:45, we would stop and call in our orders for 5-8 guys, get there and all the lights were out because they closed at 11:00 pm sharp on weeknights, and go to the window in the dark and pay for our orders. And then ate there in the dark. Great memories.

Got Cook Out today, and it was okay, I really liked the white cheddar cheese bits.

I find the cookout in Oxford to be gross. I find the chargrill in wake forest to be dry, overcooked hamburger patty on an equally dry bun, akin to eating cardboard. Shake Shack beats 'em both.

That sucks to hear. Our Cook Out around here is really good. Chargrill by campus, is just on a another level.

Shake Shake is fantastic, probably my favorite fast-casual burger.

Five Guys is a close second for me.

Both are significantly better than Char-Grill and Cookout to me, especially Char-Grill. If it weren't for nostalgia or convenience I'd never go.

Not sure your location, but we don't have Shake Shake?

I enjoy Five Guys aside from the insane price they charge.

Agree with you but Five Guys is probably my favorite followed closely by Shake Shack. Can't go wrong with either though.

Yeah they're definitely proud of it but you get a ton of food especially if you order fries.
