Ill also add that since I got into this business, the complaints about ATC funding, inadequate staffing, and lagging technology have never stopped.
Thankfully Trump has already frozen ATC hiring, disbanded the Aviation Safety Advisory Committee, offered buyouts/retirements to all existing, experienced ATCs (as well as the TSA, etc), and of course tried to freeze research grants for things like, say, better ATC technology. That should help.

Blatant lies from smapty. Not surprised the fake arbiters of truth have not corrected this due to their TDS. Federal air traffic controllers are exempt from the hiring freeze. More fake news/misinformation/gaslighting from the left.

This is why democrats are flailing in polls.
yeah none of this matters relative to this accident.

Yeah. I expected that to be when you'd police response, per usual. Feign outrage and judge, fake ass.
um, I'm agreeing with you.

Of course it doesn't matter relative to this incident.

Anyway, Trump's orders have tended to be poorly written and confusing, so there is a lot of conflicting info going around, but it does look like ATCs were exempt from the hiring freeze. It's not clear if they were offered buyouts, though, along with huge swaths of the government. The TSA apparently was. Trump did disband the Aviation Safety Advisory Committee, and of course tried to freeze all research grants.

The point is that this plane crash was a perfectly timed metaphor for what these guys are about to do to this country. "Dismantle the gubmint" makes a great bumper sticker for folks who aren't good at thinking about things for more than 30 seconds, but it's going to have wide-ranging unintended negative consequences.

In the video I posted "Countdown to the Next Air Disaster," they interviewed a guy who got a perfect score on the controller test, but did not do well on the DEI test they also gave. There are many more that scored really high on the controller test but did not get jobs. This is what bloated and woke government gets you.

This should be concerning to all Americans. I've been in aviation nearly 20 years and unfortunately I think we are just starting to see the damage done by democrats and their woke/DEI policies.

We're not going to wait for the actual investigation, it's just DEI? What about the tower being understaffed because someone was sick so that one ATC was handling landings and helicopter traffic? That plays no part I suppose.

Look, I'm no fan of DEI policies, but events like this are rarely boiled down to one single thing that lead to an accident. It's just incredibly short sighted to declare that DEI is the only reason this accident occurred because the real reforms that may be needed will be ignored.

According to the lawsuit the FAA is facing, they have turned away 1000 qualified applicants in favor of DEI.

Do you not think that those 1000 applicants could have filled in across the nation. Would having 1000 MORE applicants not help?!

Why is this so hard to understand?

Because we don't know what caused the accident.

Trump literally started spouting off about DEI when search and rescue/recovery operations were still underway. It was grossly inappropriate. There will be a time to research causes and lay blame, and that time ain't when bodies are still being recovered from the Potomac.

Why is this so hard to understand?

why is it hard for you to understand that it's not the ONLY reason this accident occurred, and that the lessons learned from the other causes of this accident are most likely going to be more important than hiring practices.

BS! You hide behind that because you KNOW the democrats have really effed up pushing woke/DEI.

Let me ask. Would it hurt to have the 1000 applicants (that were turned away) now working for the FAA? Would that be a bad thing?

Not just DEI, but why would one person being sick lead to being understaffed and having one person call all that air traffic? The safety of everyone flying relies on folks not getting the flu? ***

It's obviously not ALL at the feet of DEI, but it can certainly be a contributing factor, correct?

I nor you know what the staffing needs are for this particular tower nor do we know how people are scheduled for working at DCA. Let's figure that out and fix it before we decide that a policy is the issue. I think we'll find it was not as big as it's being made out to be
