This is a lot worse than people know because communication infrastructure is destroyed.
Wow, that is terrible. What a mess.Wlfpk81 said:
i am in the wireless industry and i can tell you that we aren't even sure how to approach getting towers back up and running for folks in western nc. the amount of mud and debris left over is staggering.
FYI – North Carolina would have 19,522 working @Starlink kits available today after Hurricane Helene had the FCC not revoked in bad faith the grant that was awarded to SpaceX as the winning bidder. pic.twitter.com/oXqTuyFBAc

NC State's Davin Vann is working with his mom, who owns a moving company, to transport supplies to flood victims in western NC. If you're around Raleigh and can drop off needed supplies -- bottled water, Gatorade, hygiene and other household supplies -- they're taking donations…

your problem is thinking the US government can help immediately l. It can't. It has been proven time and again. Neighbors, volunteers, friends. In times like these, that's who you have to rely on.GuerrillaPack said:

Agree, it's hard when entire infrastructure is gone. My heart goes out to those folks.Civilized said:hokiewolf said:your problem is thinking the US government can help immediately l. It can't. And the feds are helping. Our family in Black Mountain said they've been seeing Chinooks and Black Hawks fly over since yesterday morning.
The mountains pose such a unique challenge relative to Katrina becuase of all the road and railroad infrastructure that's gone and the very heavily wooded and uneven terrain. Our neice and nephew are coming up to stay indefinitely and it took them 7 hours to drive what normally would have taken three becuase so many major roadways are impacted, which also impedes relief supplies getting in by truck.
It's crazy-town up there right now and is going to take a combined federal, state, local, volunteer, friend/family/neighbor effort to make large parts of WNC livable again.

Everything is gone.
“To give you an understanding of the devastation we’re dealing with: Chimney Rock is gone,” a local filmmaker said.pic.twitter.com/Y4OrB7frGA

Chimney Rock / Lake Lure area used to be an easy trip for me when I lived out in Hickory and the kids were still growing up, probably been there 8 times over the years... he's wrong about the water going to the Cape Fear eventually though, you'd think him supposedly living in Asheville 7-8 years as he claimed in the video that he'd know his river systems a little better than that.
Hate seeing those pictures of US-64 in Chimney Rock.

There is some reprehensible human left wing garbage that is echoing the opposite version of GP right now and claiming this is a false flag action. Hollywood action.
Typing it out makes you realize just how horrendous that type of thought process is both ways

I'm not a very political person but I do think the president needs to address the nation on this. Bush did for Katrina and this is at least just as bad.
