I think it's perfectly reasonable to let the university to decide how to handle the situation and be ok with that. No need for us to get out the pitchforks and demand "justice". He said mean (and offensive) things. He should be accountable for that and it sounds like he's trying to be. But lets not act like he raped young boys in the showers, choked a player, or placed bets on his team.
Exactly. Gives me hope society is moving to a more reasoned response to offense. Clearly as seen from the posters here, there are still many that will always demand scalps for offense and will clutch their purses and grandstand for likes on social media. But it's nice to see a large entity respond to offense with correction rather than termination. The perpetually offended will always be offended. Quit catering to them.
Haven't posted anything about this on social media, so not grandstanding at all. Just stating an opinion.
FWIW, I listened to the CBS Eye on College Basketball
Podcast this morning and they talked about it. They were of the consensus that it was handled appropriately and didn't think it needed to raise to the level of termination. So to your point, there are people who agree with you too.
I guess my point is, I don't think I'm "perpetually offended" or "grandstanding", it's just how I feel about this matter. We disagree, and that's ok.
Also, I don't carry a purse.
