Unfortunately the current admin has shown they do not care about deficits so I have to pin my hopes on the next guy. Despite the bond markets ringing alarm bells in 2026, Trump is likely able to keep the debt spree going until he's out of office.

The 2028 winner can try to kick the can, but the SS short fall will hit 2032 or sooner and they will have to confront that to have a shot at being re-elected.

Shortfalls are so big that it would take massive spending cuts or massive tax raises to get there. Probably some of each if someone is going to attempt to sell this to Americans.
