I enjoy reading these threads just don't want to get in a back and forth nazi or pedophile argument but I will say I am a 60 year old registered voter who my entire life was a registered Democrat and switched to independent in 2020 simply because this new democratic party is not close to the party I grew up with not close and when it reaches a point where I even voted for Trump simply because this new Democrat party actually gave me no other choice honestly. The options the Democrats are giving us is just not trustworthy and yes I trust Trump more than the other options.

What did the "new" Democrats do leading up to 2020 that made you switch to Independent?

Wait?!? And here I thought Civ has constantly asserted that he himself is also an Independent?

What a weird question for a supposed "longtime" Independent to be asking a reasonably newer one... but I think anyone here that pays attention knows the answer to that one.

I am man. I'm a socially left, fiscally centrist Independent that believes strongly that for the last 10+ years there's vastly more good intentions and humanism and sanity at the top of the Democratic Party.

I don't agree with Dem stances on trans activism, college loan relief, coddling far-left loons (some of the squad), wealth taxes, or some other topics.

But I believe strongly in sanity and humanism and not worshipping a completely unethical, trashy, and harmful buffoon of a President, or condoning an impotent Congress that's decided to pledge fealty to that type of human being.

This is what virtually all Republicans support, either tacitly with their silence or vote, or explicitly.

And this total vacuum of ethics is a big part of why the Republican Party is going to get destroyed in November, a message that will hopefully force a course correction, although I'm very doubtful it will.

People are tired of being disgusted by the leader of this great nation, and those that take their behavioral and political cues from him.

Eye roll.

Having a problem with the Dems jettisoning GP and ending his political career, when you literally supported and voted in a known insurrector and sex assaulter as President, is a positively laughable farce.

The Dems are doing what the Republicans should have done in 2021 when Trump was on the ropes and they had electoral cover to do what was the ethical decision anyway.

Instead of kicking his ass to the curb and finding a more ethical, competent candidate they fell in line, began the fellating all over again, and now we have a sex-assaulting, insurrectionist President. Yay!

Yeah man, rape was too much. Crazy, I know.

Too bad two dozen accusations, a civil liability finding of forcible penetration, bragging about grabbing them by the *****, treating his own daughter like a sex kitten, cheating on every wife he's had, and hanging with and covering up for a pedo aren't too much for y'all.

You knew what Trump was in 2016 and 2020 and 2024 and voted for him anyway. You know what he is now and still run cover for him.

Shame.

It also says that a sizable fraction of the country mistakenly thought Trump wasn't as bad as they remembered, and they were obviously and admittedly very wrong about that.

"Trump Force One," a Boeing 757 owned by The Trump Organization, was the first plane to arrive at the airport under its new name, shortly after 5 a.m. The president's son, Eric Trump, was one of the passengers. The Trump family regularly uses the West Palm Beach airport when they visit President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in nearby Palm Beach. A stretch of road from the airport to Trump's estate was renamed Donald J. Trump Boulevard earlier this year.
