My information, several years ago in Trump's 1st term, approx. 2018-19, was that our gold was recovered. It will be interesting to see if its returned to Fort Knox or not. Back in the late 80's or early 90's I watched a documentary that toured Fort Knox and there was absolutely zero gold there and even questions as to whether there were hidden vaults, etc.

IMHO, The War of 1812 sustained our independence on paper until US Grant gave us away prematurely in the 1871 Organic Act under financial duress. We were reconquered fiscally in 1913 when subjugated to the Federal Reserve Act and establishment of federal income taxes soon thereafter.
