Mark Lundeen nails it in this lengthy article, most of which is economic analysis. You have to get to the end to see him write this….and I find it amazing that today's news is the result of an incompetent President from nearly half a century ago. Elections have consequences indeed.

"Kicking this nuclear can-of-worms down the road, leaving the mess for others to deal with, has been the policy of every president since Jimmy Carter was in office. Trump is different. He isn't going to leave the problems of a nuclear armed Iran for his successor to deal with. He is going to end it now, and I'm grateful that he is.
It was President Jimmy Carter, who pressured the Shah of Iran to allow Ayatollah Khomeini's to return to Iran in February 1979, from his exile in Paris France. Khomeini communicated to the Carter Administration the injustices he, and his followers had suffered at the hands of the Shah. That if he was allowed to return to Iran, he would be kind to all Iranians. As he had no issues with the United States, he would be eternally grateful to America for this small favor from President Carter.
It was a lie that President Carter; America's Bumbler-in-Chief, believed. Carter's act of kindness was rewarded by the Islamic Republic taking captive the American Ambassy staff for 444 humiliating days.
Since this act of kindness from President Carter, to Ayatollah Khomeini, Iran's Islamic Republic has waged an aggressive war against the infidel, both foreign and domestic, and would soon press their point with nuclear weapons if someone didn't stop them. Trump is stopping them. Look at who is trying to stop Trump from stopping them; people who don't have a clue about the world we live in, and those who do, and like it that way.
Every day, I thank God we have Donald Trump as President; someone willing to do something he knows will result in public outrage, and not give a damn because he knows what he is doing, is the right thing to do. In this case, terminate the Ayatollahs' dreams of a nuclear future. "
Nice guy but one of the worst Presidents in modern American history.
