Today, February 28, 2026, may be the most important day of the 21st Century so far. May God bless our fighting forces as they place themselves in harm's way to protect, defend, and save the Westand may we triumph over this remorseless, conscienceless, and evil enemy that has been at war with the "Great Satan" for nearly half a century.

Hokie, you've been hampering on this Presidents unconstitutional actions. Today, you say it's the most important day of the 21st century; yet, no statement on the constitutionality of this action? Did Trump get his power from Congress?

Civ? Thoughts?
no I haven't. I have one policy issue that isn't legal , tariffs.

I have zero issue with anything Trump has done with respect to Iran. I hope we succeed greatly.

How do you know that when he hasn't made a case to Congress or the American people for whatever we're doing now?

The constitutionality of this action aside, none of us have a ****ing clue what the plan or goal or exit strategy is, and most likely neither does he.
what am I supposed to know other than the Iranian people have taken to the streets to beg us for help. I see no reason why we wouldn't do that.

OK, so make the case to Congress and the American people for that.

He's telling us we're at war and to expect American casualties.

Especially if he's going to yet again try to circumvent Congress, the very least he can do is explain what the **** it is he's doing.
im not going to penalize Trump for not doing something that every President since Truman has ignored.

I don think there's a more cut and dry reason why we are doing this. It should be no surprise to anyone in Congress and only the looney tunes section of Congress doesn't understand that.

Nah I'm still salty about all of these "not wars".

We should be going to Congress before attacking another sovereign country that isn't a threat to us. If that's too high of a bar then we shouldn't go
that regime is responsible for thousands of American deaths. They are evil, they murder their own citizens. They are 100% a threat to America.

Then it's an open and shut case to make to Congress.

I'm sure today's democrat party would support your President Trump.

Aside from Paul and Massie and a few select others, Republicans seem to not understand, or simply not care, that they've lost any moral high ground to ever complain again about Presidential behavior, decorum, norms, ethics, honesty, grifting, transparency, or Constitutionality after this Administration leaves office.

All of that is totally and completely out the window. This administration has made it clear that nothing matters except controlling power.

And the ends always, always justify the means.

I don't see it that way. I expect the President of United States, no matter what party they are from to understand the gravity of putting our military in harms way. I can not think of a President in my lifetime who did not that that task seriously. So I have zero issue with giving the President leeway to start an operation, especially one where we are truly destroying evil to make sure that war does not come to American shores.

That's is significantly different then wanting a dumb idea of a monetary policy to not occur illegally. Hell, you would convince me very easily that tariff are awesome if they put 100% tariffs on China. But they didn't do that and didn't have a plan and still don't have a plan, therefore they have exhausted that leeway, especially now that the SC had ruled against the application of those tariffs.

All of that is totally and completely out the window. This administration has made it clear that nothing matters except controlling power.

And the ends always, always justify the means.
yes, that's all bad, but we have dealt a blow to evil on this earth today. That doesn't excuse all that other stuff, but I'm not going to pretend that this moment, against the Iranian regime trumps (no pun intended) all of that today.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei killed

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who turned the country into a powerful anti-U.S. force and extended its military influence across the Middle East while crushing repeated domestic unrest, was killed in Israeli and U.S. strikes, a senior Israeli official told Reuters on Saturday.

My sincere condolences, Civ.

find his remains and run them through a wood chipper

Apparently up to 40 top leaders were killed today…That's crazy effectiveness.
Good. Keep it going. They've killed hundreds of thousands on this earth. Continue the mission until they are all in hell

My argument for this war:

This is the celebration when it was announced the Ayatollah was dead

One of Iran's ballistic missiles made it through the Iron Dome and hit an apartment building in Tel Aviv. It did tremendous damage, so pray for all of our troops in the line of fire and the innocent civilians, especially in Isreal who are also in the line of fire. At least one dead that I have heard.

I don't recall you ever saying there was a time when Republicans occupied a moral high ground.

In fairness, that's because we didn't know each other then, Souljer.

We can all celebrate the success of the fall of an oppressive extremist regime while hoping for something much more moderate and humanist to take its place, and also requiring that American leaders be answerable to Congress and the American people.

None of those goals are in conflict or mutually exclusive.
