Actually, I'm saying we've never had free trade in the past. The so-called free trade agreements were never free trade for our businesses. What our agreement may have said and what was actually going on were two different things.

i think I would set a new policy that our goal is to get manufacturing either, in the US, or at the very least, for low value items, in the western hemisphere. That way, we can help the countries, where their citizens, will stay in their homeland as opposed to coming here.

That said, I just don't agree with your premise on this.

Just so your clear, the SC said his tariffs were misapplied by the statute he used. They did not say he could apply tariffs; rather, he can't use the statute he used. That's why the tariffs using other statutes weren't discussed.

Now, I don't know how much money was raised by statute, so, it may not be much. That said, this admin isn't going to stop working on shifting the economy in a different direction. Some people don't mind dealing with tough characters. Heck, people complain that Trump and Putin are bed buddies, yet, they don't have a problem with doing business with Xi jingping.
