Hokie, here is one that I'm trying to figure out (I am asking questions)…

I am selling something to a gentleman in Israel. He's asked if I can declare the value much lower than he's going to pay on the export/import papers. Why would he ask that? Does Israel have an import duty/tariff on goods coming out of the US? I'm not sure and will inquire…. If my suspicion is correct, then chalk another one of those free trade agreements as…. Not free trade?

none of the trade deals have been ratified, so we have no idea what the end result is.

So, are you saying we didn't have trade deals before got into office?

BTW, I did message with the person in Israel that I was referencing. He said that they do have an import tax on US goods. What do you know? We want free trade without our "ally" reciprocating.

There is no such thing as free trade. Never has been. It's always been one-sided. We provided valuable free access to our economy without free access in return.

Heck, our so-called most staunch ally, in Israel, doesn't have free trade with us. It's time for people to wake up and demand free trade or nothing any less than reciprocal trade.

Update:

I messaged with the buyer and he explained the tax. The tax is not an import tax; rather a VAT that is applied to all purchases. I know this tax is considered different; however, at the same time, it is a barrier for sales into Israel.
