Not to poke the bear, but Roseanne was removed from her show during the first Trump administration. I get what you're saying, but a difference that I'll point out is that no one in the federal government pressured either ABC or Fox News to remove them from their airwaves.

It was a business decision, and you can agree or disagree with it, like the thousands of business decisions made every day.

The threatening ABC, then the FCC chairman threatening ABC because a guy with 1.4M viewers makes stupid jokes and insults Trump is a big problem.

This is my fear that these tribalistic illiberal actions will become the norm now. If they do, congrats we have changed America for the worst.

That word choice isn't intended to be a simple insult. When people at home and around the world view the Trump Administration's leadership especially during his second term, they don't have to squint hard to understand the word choice and criticism.

When you look at the actual definition of a fascist, Trump and Miller, especially, walk like a duck and talk like a duck. They check authoritarian, nationalist, militarist, anti-liberalist, propagandist, cult-of-the-leader, enemies-within-and-without, aesthetic spectacle boxes much moreso than any administration in American history.

Does this mean we're watching the second coming of the Third Reich? No. Does it mean that these aspects of this administration aren't objectively alarming? Also, no.

*****ing about the "fascist" criticism is analogous to criticizing people for calling Trump a criminal, or wanting him prosecuted, when he committed actual crimes. Yes, he's politically unpopular with many. Yes, political motivations exist to prosecute him.

But it's undeniable he also crimes. And it's gaslighting to act like the only reason to want to prosecute him is political. Again, that would hold weight if we were talking about Reagan or Bob Dole or whatever Republican you want to choose for whom there was zero apparent evidence that he ever committed crimes.

It's also rationally inconsistent and transparently hypocritical to criticize the left for calling this administration fascist when Trump, Vance, Miller, and even Charlie Kirk and others on the right have used that exact word dozens of times to describe the left. And when they use that word it is clearly simply meant to inflame because the left can be understandably accused of many things but they don't check many/any of the fascism boxes.
