The way the left is trying to frame the news about acetaminophen as "RFK trying to lay the blame on mom's" tells me there is real tooth to the story about the link between acetaminophen and autism.

LOL @ the boogeyman "left." By "the left" do you mean "Trump and RFK's FDA?"

The FDA's own press release yesterday explained clearly there was no causal link.

This massive "announcement" is an RFK pseudoscience bull**** nothingburger.

It's literally "some pregnant women take Tylenol" + "some babies are born with autism" = "maybe don't take Tylenol."

We are all dumber for having to pretend for a hot second that this is real science.

Quote:

"There is no definitive evidence to suggest that paracetamol use in mothers is a cause of autism, and when you see any associations, they are very, very small," says James Cusack, chief executive of Autistica, a UK autism research and campaigning charity in London, who is autistic. "At the heart of this is people trying to look for simple answers to complex problems."

Nature: 'Trump links autism and Tylenol: is there any truth to it?'

"At the heart of this is people trying to look for simple answers to complex problems" is doing yeoman's work here.

There's never been a better one-sentence encapsulation of today's right than that sentence.

Very plausible explanation of the Tylenol "announcement."

Keep hyperventilating, Civ. You totally care about the science, not just your mental illness.

Of course having a fever, especially during the first trimester, does significantly increase the risk of neurodevelopmental problems (which is why studies struggle to determine if it was the Tylenol instead of just the fever in the first place that caused the problem).

I guess we'll see if trashing the one viable treatment for fevers during pregnancy (and possibly increasing neurodevelopmental problems) is as politically salient as taking away vaccines.

What are you even talking about?

The literal release from the FDA yesterday said no causal link has been established.

What they have is a correlational finding from observational studies (i.e. not randomized control studies which would obviously be unethical in this circumstance).

Instead of politicizing it or being nasty when I don't do the same to you, just stick to the facts.

There is a correlation between Tylenol use by pregnant women and autism (which has been known for years). Some studies claim the effects are dose-dependent; however there are many confounders and confounding studies (including a study from Sweden that captured 2.5 million Swedish children born over 25 years that established no association between acetaminophen and autism.)

There is also a correlation between fevers in pregnant women and autism. Several large studies have observed that the strongest link appears for fevers in the second trimester, and that the risk for autism increases with the number of fever episodes and appears more pronounced with severe or sustained fevers.

Agreed?

ETA: My biggest issue here, far and away is the presentation of this information as an OMG AHA WE FOUND IT moment, which does past science, pregnant women, and the autism community a huge disservice.

Hopefully most people are smart enough to understand that they shouldn't be taking medical advice from the White House or social media and should stick to the advice of their doctors if they want the best possible outcome for themselves. Doctors actually understand the research, the risks, and advocate for health interests vs. political interests. And although this hope applies no matter who's in the White House, it's especially true these days…

I'm about the people, not about democrat and Republican. There's almost as many corrupt as democrat, but not quite as many.. people have to educate themselves in the inform and take control back from the government

Isn't it great to have more people posting in the Water Cooler? I'm serious about this. So many people left and now we are seeing a few of them post. That's good!

Honestly, most people probably recognize that the Sports Forums have gotten far more toxic than the Water Cooler.

The Supreme Court just Overturned a 90-YEAR PRECEDENT, Expanding Presidential Power Over Independent Agencies

The Supreme Court just overturned "Humphrey's Executor" (1935), a 90-year-old precedent that protected independent agency leaders from presidential removal without cause.

The 6-3 decision, grants President Trump and future executives SWEEPING AUTHORITY to fire heads of agencies like the FTC, NLRB, and SEC.

This was prompted by a series of aggressive firings of Democratic appointees from independent agencies by President Donald Trump shortly after his January 2025 inauguration.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION: Let's zoom out and cut to the bone on this one... this is really big... what Trump is really after is a restoration of what the Founders set in motion...

The FOUNDING FATHERS gave us one President, directly accountable to the people, with the power to direct and remove those who carry out the laws... a civics lesson...

Article II, Section 1 vests the executive power in the President.... Article II, Section 2 gives him authority to appoint officers with the Senate's consent... Article II, Section 3 commands that he "take care that the laws be faithfully executed"...

Then in 1935 that chain was broken when Humphrey's Executor carved out insulated commissions and allowed them to grow into bureaucratic kingdoms beyond reach of the ballot box...
That detour turned into decades of entrenched power serving itself... now the targets are clear...
The FTC, NLRB, CPSC, CFPB, SEC, FCC (openly targeting), FERC, EPA regulators, EEOC, MSPB, even Federal Reserve governors (almost done, Cook) and administrative law judges... all of them...

The levers are simple... overturn Humphrey's Executor, issue executive orders, press litigation until the walls fall... trumpets will wail, walls will fall...
Strip away the noise and it comes down to this... the people elect a President, the President executes the law, and the law is judged in the courts...
That is the clarity we were meant to live under and that is what is being restored...

ALPHABET has been under the control of the CIA for quite some time. Google and YouTube heavily censored or manipulated. Most of the Rumble podcasters came from YouTube after YouTube deplatformed them after attempted to report the truth on COVID, the PCR test, masks, the Jabs and the 2018, 2020 & 2022 election heists.

Alberta to be the 51st State! Then the entirety of the rest of Canada can become a territory or the 52nd state. I wonder what King Charles' price is? Maybe the exchange is to remain a monarchy in Great Britain and not swing from an MI6 act of war, election hacking.

Still not correct. The case will be argued during the justices' December argument session, which begins on Dec. 1 and concludes on Dec. 10.

It's also not authority for the president to fire these folks for no reason, the 3 reasons for firing someone still applies - inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office

What the court DID say was the executive branch could fire ONE FTC commissioner while the legal case plays out.

From a constitutional standpoint, I'm looking forward to this decision….it doesn't seem right that any governmental or quasi-governmental entity should be free from direct supervision outside of one of the branches described in Articles I, II, or lll.

I was just thinking about those 757 engines that were found at the Pentagon and in the rubble at the trade center site after 9-11. To think about those massive titanium engines there at the crash site and how valuable of recovery those engines would be titanium and all. I was just thinking.

Gulf, am I right on titanium? How many would that be? How many titanium engines would be on each jet 757 jet? Is it two per jet titanium at all?
