CHINESE COUPLE CAUGHT SNEAKING CROP-KILLING FUNGUS INTO MICHIGAN LAB?!

2 Chinese nationals tried smuggling a deadly fungus into the U.S. that can destroy crops and poison food.

Prosecutors say Zunyong Liu flew it into Detroit for his girlfriend Yunqing Jian, who works at a University of Michigan lab not cleared for biohazards.

The fungus, Fusarium graminearum, devastates wheat, corn and rice, causes vomiting and liver damage, and is labeled a potential agroterrorism weapon.

It triggers billions in crop losses yearly.

Officials say Jian's research was funded by China and that she's a Communist Party member.

Liu was deported.

Jian faces charges of conspiracy, smuggling, visa fraud and lying to officials.

U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon Jr. called it a major national security threat.

Boulder attack suspect used a flamethrower and yelled 'Free Palestine'

This guy will be a hero for the left. Illegal, Muslim, hates Jews, violent. All the makings of a Democrat.

LOLOL

Yes, yes, the Free Palenstine flamethrower is definitely a virtual lefty Superman.

You've got it nailed.

You love coming on here saying ridiculous **** like this, so put a number on it.

What percentage of "the left" supports loons like this guy?

And before you say something predictably evasive like "I don't know, but it's too high!!11" remember that the Free Palestine loons moved away from Dem politicians the last election, not towards them. And more broadly the Dems lost support amongst Muslims in 2024 for the first time in decades when they moved towards Trump and Jill Stein.

Deep down, you know I'm right. Any other normal, middle of the road person knows I'm right. The left is the party of hate and violence. We see it every day and it's only going to get worse.
Uh huh.

Given that you can watch a huge mob of MAGA lunatics on TV beat cops to death breaking into the Capitol and convince yourself it was just a pleasant afternoon stroll, I can see how this is all very confusing for you.

Can you provide a link regarding "beating cops to death"? If not I will just assume you're talking out of your * as usual and we'll just call it a "mostly peaceful protest".

Anything to offer about the illegal, Jew hating Muslim that set multiple people on fire or the hateful rhetoric we have been hearing from the left that drives people to do things like this?

Sure, since they don't have the internet in your MAGA safe space, I'll help you out.

Here's a Capitol Police memorial for a cop who died:
https://www.uscp.gov/about/honoring-our-fallen/officer-brian-sicknick

Within several months four other cops who were there committed suicide. Around 140 others were assaulted... concussions, one lost the tip of his finger, etc, etc, etc.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/11/us/politics/capitol-riot-police-officer-injuries.html

Here's one of 6 million videos of the mob beating police:

And here are some of the peaceful protestors that Trump pardoned:

Man, this MAGA cult has you so turned around that I'm sure after Trump snapped his fingers any January 6th video you see now is just a black screen. F'ing lunatics.

Nothing you posted said anything about "beating cops to death". As usual you twist a narrative to fit you childish views of the world.

I'll ask again, any to offer on the illegal Jew hating Muslim that set multiple people on fire or the hateful rhetoric we hear everyday from the left that dives people to do these things?

Do you even feel any sympathy?
But you can see that a LOT of cops were beaten, and several ultimately died, right? There's literally mountains of evidence right there in front of your lying eyes. You sure you're not the one desperately twisting the narrative to fit your childish view of the world?

If you can look at those videos and come away with "mostly peaceful protest" then you're either mentally ill or just so duped by a con man you've lost touch with reality.

Yes, there are students on college campuses furious at the Israeli government. And yes, there are Muslims who want to kill Jews. You're pretending that those two groups are the same to score political points, which is pathetic.

Any comment on the anti-Semitism we see in the Water Cooler all the time? Or a comment on the raging anti-Semites that Trump just pardoned? Or the constant drumbeat on the right for Christian Nationalism? You think that's a Jew-friendly idea? Give me a break.

Yep. "Party of violence and hate," buuuttt...the only raging anti-Semites on this board are most certainly not lefties.

And most all of the known, organized, violent anti-Semitic hate groups in America are not on the left either.

And you don't see Dem presidents vomiting out a steady stream of anti-Semitic gaffes, tropes, and having a dozen major Jewish organizations denounce their anti-semitic language and policies, the way Trump got publicly lambasted this spring. To be clear, I don't think Trump is a raging anti-semite; I just think he's a moron that pukes out whatever word salad enters his atrophied reptile brain. But the point remains.

Importantly, despite all this, you also don't see me or others running to the Water Cooler to call Republicans "the party of violence and hate" either.

What Hokie said is right - worldwide issue of rising, violent anti-Semitism, murderously characterized by but not nearly limited to October 7, should be a completely non-partisan issue. Of all the things we should all be able to get behind, this is one of the absolute easiest.
I think the problem is that there are a couple complicated issues being smooshed together as they often are.

Well before October 7, Netanyahu worked overtime injecting himself into American politics, intentionally and increasingly antagonizing Democrats. He's very much responsible for the previously unheard-of partisan rift in support for Israel... Dem politicians still overwhelmingly vote for Israeli aid, and Biden was as big a stalwart as you can get, but the rank and file are pretty sick of having their noses rubbed in Netanyahu's MAGA alliance. So that dynamic was already festering when Gaza happened, which lit a powder keg under the college-campus types.

Honestly, though, I'm somewhat familiar with Israel (my sister in law was married to an Israeli, I've spent time there, driven through the West Bank, etc), and there are pretty intense protests there, too, demanding a withdrawal from Gaza, etc. A lot of Israelis are sick of Netanyahu, too.

SOOO, right or wrong... being pi**ed at Israel over what's happening in Gaza just isn't the same thing as some crazy a**hole targeting someone because they're Jewish. The former is called free speech... every idiot gets an opinion. The latter must be universally condemned. And if some gun-toting psycho is wearing a "6 Million Jews Wasn't Enough" shirt you probably shouldn't give him a presidential pardon.
The continued excuses and non punishment of obvious antisemitism on college campuses created the next reasonable step of from preventing Jewish students from free movement on campus and disrupting their classes as well as other clear antisemitic "protests" in cities has made the natural transition to straight up violence against Jews. The first step begot the current step. It's basically the broken window theory. It will continue to escalate until it is taken seriously, which frankly, many democratic run cities just don't have the stomach to do that.

No, I'm providing glaring counterpoints to you arbitrarily keying on cities and colleges as being primary drivers of antisemitism.

When we start pointing fingers about "what's causing it," it becomes political because public policy, rhetoric, and leadership all influence societal norms. If we're actually serious about addressing anti-Semitism, we can't ignore when influential figures whether they're politicians, media or online personalities, or state sponsors normalize or wink at hate (or ignore it on campuses, or in cities, or anywhere else).

I just think it's silly to key only on cities or isolated college ecosystems stocked with in many cases misguided but well-intentioned SJW's, when the President dropping tropes casually in conversations for years and being pals with disgusting losers like Ye and Nick Fuentes; X/Musk amplifying extremist anti-Semitic content; and Tucker Carlson pushing the Great Replacement and platforming Holocaust deniers have an exponentially greater influence and reach.

Related aside, what exactly should cities do to quash anti-Semitism that they're not already doing, and that doesn't violate the First Amendment? They very obviously need to aggressively pursue justice against perps of hate crimes, but I'm not aware of them doing otherwise. What else?

I key on that because that is a current driver for the escalation of violence. I'm certainly not discounting what you are saying here, I believe that is also a huge issue. But right now, since October 7, the media, the administrators, and prosecutors all have a part in this escalation in violence against Jews. I also think the media swooning over Luigi Mangione also plays a role in this change.

Again, the Intifada has come to American soil. It is both home grown (DC shooter) and foreign (Boulder fire bomber) terrorism. The sooner that we quit making excuses for people who clearly support Hamas and pretend that they are protesting the war on Gaza, and rid ourselves of the elected officials and administrators who excuse this behavior, the better off we will be in fighting off more of these attacks.

To answer your last paragraph, I don't know, maybe when students storm a building and take hostages on a college campus, they should be arrested and prosecuted, not excused and set free. That is not free speech, that is a criminal action that went unpunished. There are countless other examples of disturbing the peace, occupying buildings, denying access for Jewish students to go to classes or traverse campus (which I believe is also criminal, not free speech), etc.

Agree completely that if any students do illegal things, they need to be arrested and prosecuted. Period. Take the kid gloves off and let them win stupid prizes if they want to play stupid games.

I still think the President of the United States and social media have exponentially more power to shape the national and international narrative, for better or worse, than the President of Columbia University or college students.

The Prez, Congressmen, X/Social Media, the Lamestream Media, notable public personalities with massive platforms (Musk, Rogan, Carlson, etc.) and state/local officials all have major roles to play.

Looks like you're finally trying to distance yourself from what we've all been seeing the last four years. Might just be hope for you my friend?
The problem is, that he doesn't really mean any of it and only says things like this periodically when he wants to attempt to project his "pretendependent" persona... when it's actually going on, he turns nothing but a blind eye to all of it.

"Just normal college students, doing normal college student things" immediately comes to mind...

Because even the miners are joining the market and will soon outperform the underlying metals themselves. Which is still no excuse not to hold at least some physical, of course.

I don't disagree. I view it as if someone were to have to jump off a runaway train. If they train can be slowed, then the jump might not be fatal. Crank the economy 1st. There are also some tools available such as via rescissions packages to remove budgeted expenditures and to shed the wasteful spending. 2026 elections will dramatically change Congress too, much can be done.

I also believe there is something in the works big picture but that moment in time has not arrived. Ride the fiat reserve note a bit longer.
