Free speech, a novel idea. Free speech might have allowed a number of you here to hear the other side of the issue in 2020. MSM, Big Pharma and Big Govt were looking out for you, right?

I don't want to mischaracterize anything, he definitely lost. It sucks, I wanted him to win, but he lost a fair election. If you don't want it to be close enough that a recount can change the results, win by more. It's like in sports, the refs can't make you lose if you're running away with it.
When Wake County still has him leading long after Election Day, I have a hard time believing it was a fair election.

He was a district court Judge in Wake County, and even ran unopposed as a Republican once. Also helps he is from 2 counties over in Nash County. Riggs is from out of state and moved to Durham to work with an advocacy group just a few years before getting appointed to the bench by Cooper. He had a lot of ties to Wake County, and she didn't. It's not a conspiracy why he outperformed the average R there.

Not at all my point. Wake couldn't wrap up an election by midnight of Election Day and dragged it out for many, many days until Griffin's lead slowly dwindled. No fair minded person could be confident that machinations didn't happen to alter the course of an election. This isn't about Griffin or Riggs, it's about unacceptable election procedure and conduct.

It's amazing how willfully stupid you "fair minded" guys got on this topic the second Trump came on the scene. Whatever it takes to cast doubt on any election, just in case He Who Can Never Lose actually loses. Anyway, since you clearly need this repeated... again...

Every election since forever has had provisional ballots, veterans' ballots from overseas, etc that take forever to count. In most elections you never notice because it's not close enough for those votes to matter. But if the election margin is razor thin, then yes, it has always taken weeks to sort out the actual winner.

It's only a problem now because you guys are the worst.

I guess I'm confused as to what your concern is then. Are you saying that people in Wake County aren't counting quick enough, allowing more time to count other votes (such as the mail in military ballots in this case), instead of prematurely declaring a winner on election night before all the votes are counted? Or are you saying you think they were counting it slow to see if they needed to lie about the vote count to change an outcome?

Either way, I don't know what to tell you other than to go volunteer as a precinct worker for an election and see if you still feel that way afterwards.

President Trump to build a national center for homeless veterans using funds that were previously spent on illegal immigrants.

The executive order is another fulfilled promise of the president.

"The new National Center for Warrior Independence will help them and other veterans like them rebuild their lives," the Trump White House said.

"The Center will promote self-sufficiency through housing, substance abuse treatment, and support for productive work for the veterans housed there."

"President Trump strongly believes that every veteran deserves our gratitude, and that the federal government should treat veterans like the heroes they are."

Trump has directed that a campus be established in Los Angeles, where approximately 3,000 homeless veterans live.

The goal is to house 6,000+ homeless veterans by 2028.

The latter, and I'll give you a pass for the disingenuousness. Other counties of varying populations get it done by three AM at the latest with the count. No excuse for Wake dragging it out, and as Democrats well know, military ballots significantly tend to favor GOP candidates, so late arriving absentee ballots don't explain why Griffin's 10,000-plus lead just evaporated over the course of more than a week past Election Day.

I promise you, I'm wasn't trying to be disingenuous at all. I just wanted to make sure I understood your concern exactly and specifically so that we could have a candid conversation about it.

I still stand by my last suggestion. The County Republican parties are always looking to have a certain number of their people as precinct workers and ballot watchers. You can even get paid a little bit for some of them (not $$$, more like what you'd get for jury duty).

I also want to be clear that none of this is trying to be condescending or anything else of the sort. I just think your concern could be alleviated by some first hand exposure to the process. We are human, we won't ever believe anyone more than our own experience.

That reminds me... I can't believe you guys aren't howling over the idiot who finally conceded the NC Supreme Court race that he lost 6 months ago. Sorry... I meant Republicans were "stopping the steal" by trying to steal the race.

I know I don't stop in here much because as a never trump R, I don't think I fit the vibe of this forum. That said, I personally know Jefferson Griffin incredibly well. All I will say on the matter, is that the truth runs a lot deeper than what is on the news. It was a stupid legal challenge that nobody thought would ever work, but the decision to do this whole song and dance was not his. And for me, I will personally never forgive the person who pushed him into doing it. They ruined a good man's career and made his name associated with election interference. He's still to blame for not telling that person to go F themselves, but the news coverage isn't getting the whole picture.

MAGA is so Trump obsessed that they don't understand how anyone can dislike him and his policies without being a Democrat. And the most extreme characterization if a Democrat at that.

Discussion here sucks because the majority refuses to believe people's clearly stated points of view and instead only engage with Straw men they invent

Interesting develops of late in next year's NC US Senate race. Can Tillis beat Cooper? Not likely. Will Tillis be the GOP nominee? Who knows? If not, can Cooper be beaten? Well, that depends on the smarts and the willingness of his opponent to exploit Cooper's weaknesses and he does have them.

I think Cooper can be beaten. he never would have won his first term as Gov. if the "bathroom bill" had not been front and center. McCrory and his people handled that poorly and it led to his defeat. His reelection (Cooper) was just like most incumbents. They are hard to unseat once they are in office. Except when they make a pretty big blunder like McCrory did.

My 2 cents

McCrory had a lot of weaknesses, and that shouldn't be discounted. But did you see what happened with Cooper the other day? When asked why he supported men playing in women's sports, he turned and headed for his car without a word. If I'm running against him, I play that in a campaign ad early and often. But not exclusively. His violation of our 1st Amendment rights during the pandemic should be front and center.
