It's volatile...goes up and down in sharp swings. But historically, long term, it just keeps going steadily up...mainly due to "keeping up with inflation".

We have Federal laws against treason, and the punishment is death. There is nothing wrong with referencing that certain politicians do, in fact, deserve to be charged with treason. But calling for the assassination of the President (or anyone) is obviously illegal...and therefore, crossing a line of "free speech" in a forum like this.

I agree with the current IPS policy that personal attacks against individual posters should not be allowed. But it is "fair game" to criticize public figures, political parties, and ideologies as harshly as one wishes.

GP, if you really look at the Water Cooler, we've lost a lot of solid contributors. Those contributors may, or may not have, different views than yours; however, losing those people has really made the Water Cooler less enjoyable.

Were has made it clear he's going to continue to gum up every thread. I think that's selfish. He thinks I'll lose every debate. Sometimes it's not about winning; rather, it's about debating. One can sharpen their skills, learn something, and/or feel very comfortable with who they are.

At the end of the day, Ernie earned his suspension because of the personal attacks and venomous nature of his post this morning. I am a Free Speech absolutist; however, ones Free Speech can be shut down or asked to leave in certain situations. Ex: I can ask a person to leave my house if their free speech isn't wanted. Just like, IPS can shut it down, if it's not wanted.
