He specifically asked about reciprocal tariffs. But you avoid addressing his specific question. Don't want to talk about the fact that OTHER COUNTRIES are putting tariffs on goods produced inside the United States, now do you?

Other countries are utilizing tariffs for good reason. There are good reasons to utilize tariffs.

And tariffs are a tax on other nations. Not a tax on American citizens.

And it is a tax only on good produced by other nations. If American citizens buy goods produced inside the United States, then they are buying goods that have no tariffs placed on them.

Tariffs are an excellent tool, of course, to incentivize production of goods inside the United States. This will, and already is, bringing tons of jobs to the United States - benefiting American citizens with good jobs.

Ultimately, as a result of tariffs, more and more and the vast majority of goods consumed by Americans will be made inside the United States, and will have no tariffs placed on them.
Who gives a rip what other countries do. They're citizens if they want to buy American products pay for that tariff. That cost is built into the product, or the business can decide to make a business decision and take less profit to do so.

Centralized industrial planning is straight out of the MARXIST playbook. Tariffs are centralized planning tools. The government is deciding what should and shouldn't be made in America, not the free market. Tariffs take more jobs away than they create. That has been proven by economists time and time again.

This manufacturing that you want to come back to the US, specifically what do you want? That's never been answered. The US is the 2nd largest manufacturing country in the world. What's missing that you are pining for tho be made in America? And by that it has to be every single piece, part, and raw material. I hate to break it to you, but that's going to be impossible to do, costly, and will cost jobs and not create them.

If "everything" is already being manufactured in America, then the tariffs will have little effect upon Americans...because we can just buy everything we need, all of which is manufactured in America and has no tariffs on it. So why are you b1tching about tariffs then?
Because the tariff imposed on the outside competition will be incorporated into the pricing of the widget and it's parts made in America raising the price for American consumers. You still pay the tariff even if the tariff isn't applied to your All-American product, which doesn't exist currently.

Who gives a rip what other countries do. They're citizens if they want to buy American products pay for that tariff. That cost is built into the product, or the business can decide to make a business decision and take less profit to do so.

Very bad idea. 1% of these uber wealthy folks already pay 40-50% of all taxes that go into the Treasury. They are also the job creators and already pay way more "than their fair share." I hope this doesn't happen. If they want to voluntarily pay more then go right ahead, but most of them are going to pay near the minimum of what they owe.
