I think everyone knows (should know) that the term liberal has absolutely no relationship with classical liberalism.
In fact the left co-opted the term, liberal, when progressivism fell out of favor, in the late 1800's into the early 1900's. Most of the people posting here, that come from a liberal slant, are probably true progressives.
I know I fell for the neocons of the 80's until 2016. I like to call myself a Christian, conservative, libertarian, borderline anarchist, with a MAGA twist.
I would say most MAGA people are tired of the wealth disparity and elitism in this country. I'm not sure they all know how we got here; however, they see it and want it changed.
