And yes, research directly impacted a member of my family so, I have a passion about research. I also live in the Triangle and understand the enormity of the amount of facilities that there are here at the Universities and the RTP. So why wouldn't I be interested in learning about the impact of that research by the Administration making an arbitrary cut in that funding?

Culture war stuff aside - which is a colossal waste of time and energy that both parties need to move away from - there were clear incremental improvements that can be made to a variety of conditions by either party coming out of the last administration.

But when you bake everything into the cake it's hard to see how a stable administration interested and effective at governing and spurring legislation, and that falls well within the standard deviation of normal and functioning governance would be worse than how unhinged the last several weeks have been.

I guess what it comes down to for me in a nutshell is prospective disagreement about the efficacy of the CHIPS act, or whatever, pales by comparison to ****ting all over judicial review, checks and balances, key US programs/departments, longheld foreign alliances, and then spooning Putin.
