• the Nobel peace prize committee can't help themselves. They gave Obama the prize in the same circumstance.

What Trump may or may not have done, having been a President, is still an untested matter of legality from some readings I've seen at the American Bar Association (themselves no longer a reliable source) but as private citizen, the law is very specific as to Bolton's status. A more appropriate comparison would be to compare Bolton to Sandy Berger who infamously got caught (but not particularly harshly punished) for stuffing classified docs down his pants at the National Records Archives back twenty years ago.
