Yup. They're flailing about looking for something to hold onto. Most people weren't sure about Trump in 2016. Calling him Hitler in a private text isn't a good look and he'll have to answer for it, but it wasn't a front page story for the NYT that he wrote and it wasn't accompanied by art depicting DT as a member of the KKK.
