What makes the most common sense here: A massive voter fraud scheme that lacks the evidence to launch a trial or investigation, or, another example of Trump being a sore loser? It's the KISS principle in action.

I'm not listening to Trump on this anymore. I'm listening to local people in each State. They are the ones, on the ground, going through all the data. Even at that, people are saying yes and no, on the election fraud.Steve Videtich said:dogplasma said:

Exactly!
Was there a call for violence? No
Has anyone been found guilty of insurrection? No
Did people make stupid decisions? Yep
Have other politicians said that previous elections were stolen? Yep

BTW, people should stop with the wondering "if Amtrak Joe could have really received more votes than any President in the history of America" bit.
First, America's population is growing at a clip of a few million people every year so it's obvious that more people will vote in elections now than decades ago. 40 million people voted in 1932 and 160 million voted in 2020, with fairly linear progress from one number to the other. You're only really competing for "most ever!!11" with the last couple of elections. Only 4 out of the last 23 presidential elections had fewer people vote than the previous election.
Second, Trump is very popular amongst his base, but he's also very divisive. That created an electoral climate where both he and his opponent had historic turnout. That's not surprising given growing electorate trends, the current political climate, and Trump being the biggest lightning rod of a president in history.

Somewhere in that 1.4 million/0.75% range for spoilt votes of all types, same as every other election.

Yes it has. Deliberate electoral fraud is a crime and is treated as such when there's evidence of it. It's just extraordinarily rare.
The overwhelming preponderance of spoilt votes are non-criminal, mostly unintentional procedural issues.

Here''s a clip of an interview of an Arizona candidate for Secretary of State. He speaks of 200,000+ ballots in AZ that were supposedly mailed ........NOT folded. A ballot doesn't fit in the envelop unfolded. He also speaks of 900,000 ballots without proper chain of custody. He speaks of security guard at counting center in Phoenix finding tables of ballots being prepared in a cordoned back room… They discuss safe houses and mules shown in 2000 MULES.
FoxNEWS and Newsmax do not provide uncensored news………..they provide CENSORED news. Even Tucker Carlson's show would not allow the words "2000 MULES" to be spoken.

Civ, you have an opinion based on a court. I get it. It's a sound place to be. Regardless, evidence is evidence that would be played out in a court, if a court would actually hear the evidence. That said, all of this, in my opinion, should be used to have state legislatures make new election laws to clean up the process. If that happens, which I'm not sure it will, then on to the next election.Civilized said:Werewolf said:

Younger people, low-income people, minorities, and those without access to transportation are those most impacted by hollow attempts to "clean up" a process that's not dirty. Who do younger, lower-income, minority voters typically vote for? That's where so much of the distrust originates about the motivations to "clean up" the process. It's not demonstrably "dirty," and the people whose access to polls gets more restricted don't help the party that wants to "clean up" the process.

This is the argument that I always have an issue with when it comes to voting law discussion. How it affects those with less resources. If you feel strongly enough about the election that it's important to you to cast your vote. Then find a way to get to a drop box or a voting booth to cast your ballot.
People have public transportation, a friend with a car, and hell, Rideshare services actually give you a free ride to vote. There is no excuse anybody has not to be able to cast their vote. None! Arguments like this do nothing but make excuses and give credence to the rhetoric of the right.
The left leaning folks caused many of these issues with many of their 11th hour behind the scenes changes in local voting laws. Add in the antics of Zuckerberg and his "special" drop boxes and its easy to see why there is distrust. And yes, it's the fault of the right for allowing these changes to happen and not fight them in court when it did. But, stop with the MSM media narrative that this is against minorities.
All of these new laws have cleaned things up and tried to remove some of the gray areas that draw the most questions. What is wrong with that?
Actually, I've never heard a single person say they don't want to count all legal votes. Congressional people, in numerous States, believe something was amiss and want election law changes. It's their state and I believe in a representative country, that's where these decisions should be done.Civilized said:caryking said:Civ, you have an opinion based on a court. I get it. Morning Cary!
The fundamental disconnect here is that there's all this talk of "cleaning up the process" when there's not really evidence it's "dirty."
If you're not seeing evidence of fraud and courts aren't either, "cleaning up the process" reads more like "limiting voter access to the polls because we lost the last election" than truly well-intentioned efforts to improve election security.
Voter ID laws are fine and supportable if implemented in a way that's not regressive.
Beyond that what, specifically, are we really talking about?
Mail-in and absentee ballots weren't new to the 2020 election. They've been around for decades, with there being no evidence that they consequentially increase spoiled or fraudulent votes.
Also, whatever issues do occur don't help one party over the other. Of the 16 states where more than half of voters voted by mail in the last presidential election, Trump won nine.
The only thing that changed in 2020 was the rhetoric surrounding mail-in. Unsurprisingly, Trump's myriad repeated falsehoods about the security of mail-in (and election fraud in general) has left the American public, especially tens of millions on the right, with a false sense of how secure mail-in/absentee balloting, and our elections generally, are.
