For the life of me, why the conversation went where It did, blows me away with some people!!! Where is BBW when we need him?
Here's where it changed:

Hokie will be along shortly to tell you that's not a reliable source of news and info.

If you want to debate the merits of the video's specifics, that's fine but I'm going to defend myself when being specifically called out.

And then packgrad came into the discussion like someone put up a bat signal and here we are where we are.

BBW would have added nothing but to tell me that I'm an idiot and a shoe shine boy. So not sure how that fixes the discussion either

Also this demanding of answers is puzzling to me, why can't I just have a slightly different opinion without you guys asking questions so you can just dunk on me and not have any discussion? I don't demand answers from any of you. It's bizarre.

Sorry if that comment upset you, truly! I was just referencing the many times this week that you have argued the validity of somebody's argument because of their source of information. And no it's not just you. But, many posters have said that many times they post things to provoke thought and look at other view points.

That just seems to be a common theme with you. All good!

I mean, doesn't everyone here do that though?
All these comments on last couple pages attacking any news source that says Biden hasn't contributed significantly to the oil price increase…but now Chocolate posts a Forbes article form a guy in the business who comes to the same conclusion, and no one has even responded.
If that article had some from Chris Cilizzia or someone from MSNBC, he'd have been shredded

*for the record, I've blamed Bidens decisions as well on gas prices, but Chocolates article is compelling (and of course, we then immediately look up the author to see who he supports, lol)

It is interesting how on this board, even amongst college graduates, it's gotten to point where any point left of MAGA has earned great anger and flailing (to be honest though, the best of all is when a guy who posts nothing but negative posts on this board calls you a "message board guy", lol. The irony is so fun).

Except for the post you quoted of mine about a movie you watched last night? Don't lie so much. It's pathetic for college graduates to lie just because their feelings are hurt by another poster.

I comment on articles all the time. I don't tell people their sources are trash because it doesn't go along with my thinking and that my source is better than theirs. And again, I said it's not only him.

Like I've said many times, I try and look at multiple sources and draw conclusions based on my common sense of thinking, not because someone said so. The only source I consider truly trash, is when a politician opens their mouth.

As for the Forbes article, yes Putin has a lot to do with this. But, there is way more involved in commodities than just what happens in Europe and Russia. Why have so many in the industry recently called out Psaki's comments as total BS? Again, I take in multiple sources of information.

I'm in the gas industry and I know the gas prices have been discussed but here is a good article that talks about it.

"Keystone XL had minimal effect on current pricing"

"The global pandemic caused a significant disruption in global supply chains, including oil. Even though the global supply of oil may have declined during COVID-19, demand was also muted as people were afraid to travel. This kept oil and gasoline prices low. As the world began to emerge from the pandemic, demand increased.

"This recent spike is not a product of President Biden. It is the culmination of many issues, with Russia's aggression at the top of the list."

This all sounds so…familiar.

Sounds good, and I agree with your points on the bias and commentary inserted into the "news", and on the words of politicians.
Yet, when someone disagrees with you, the observation I've had is you tell them they are watching too much cnn. As if other intelligent people can't take in news from different sources and their own observations like you and then come up with a different perspective.
So how is that any different from what you accuse Hokie of?

I think this specific issue - gas/oil prices is like most - much more complicated than what we make it here on this board. And I also think that it tends to be blamed on whomever is in the WH, regardless of reality. So at least that would be a good benefit

The hand full of times I've told somebody to stop watching CNN (mostly to one poster in particular), were because of their talking points in their arguments, not when they posted a source. It's because their arguments matched the exact things I hear on CNN.

That's where I find it different, maybe it isn't.

You guys should understand where I'm coming from. First off, I post using my real name, so you know who I am. Everything I post would be said to you if we were tailgating or having dinner with you. I know I can be an ass and hard headed at times, but it's me, honest and real. I don't know who most of you are personally. That's why I ask questions.

Also, I come from almost 20 years of being a kicker in a football locker room. I know how to take it and I know how to give it. If I upset someone, it didn't come from hate or anger, it comes from just being honest. I can take honesty too! Call me out if I cross a line. It doesn't bother me.

We're all members of the Wolfpack family and that's most important. Families argue, politics doesn't help LOL! But, even if I disagree with some of you, I'd still love to have a beer or bourbon with all of you!

Fair enough -- a lot of times things said here come across differently in black and white than it would chatting while watching a game -- sports and politics. And I hope that includes the anger that seems to exude from this site a lot of the time.

There is a huge outnumbering of conservative to liberal in this room -- in fact from the people who post here the most, I'm not even sure there are any of what I would refer to as "liberals".....so its mostly people who likely agree on most topics...yet still when someone voices an opinion that is, say moderate, it really sets off some folks.

Hate to see it if some of the folks from the PP Brickyard ever made it over here -- now they really had some folks who were on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, lol.

Like I've said many times, I'd get rid of everyone in DC and stay start over. I hate politicians and hate hypocrisy. That's what sets me off, not holding the current administration to the same as the previous.

But, agree. I think most things people are on the same page. There are just hot buttons for everyone. Have a great night!

One thing for sure, Biden gets a much bigger pass on saying dumb things. Both did / have done so, almost embarrassingly often for a world leader.
And I guess I see it more with the sports media (Twitter follows) who routinely went out of their way to talk about the dumb things Trump said, but now take on a no-politics perspective. Funny.

I'm in the gas industry and I know the gas prices have been discussed but here is a good article that talks about it.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepatton/2022/03/09/the-real-reason-behind-surging-gas-prices/?sh=20355e7f26de&fbclid=IwAR0taOUmKE2DVmU9ZYVrJS5aMno6L2GCi9Dxuq_Xx1XO3jPPARLZBPxHSdw

Civ, let's assume you are correct. Additionally, let's assume the data in this video is correct (I haven't, so, please validate the numbers), then how do we explain what's being said…

Perhaps it's not oil, I don't know, because I'm not an economist…

Wow. Sure a lot of drama going on the last 3-4 pages here. Even someone characterizing themselves as a message board victim - even though they have just as many posts as anybody else here. That is certainly a new touch there, though. Not necessarily becoming, but new nonetheless

Same old same old. Democrats can always explain away why nothing is ever their fault (even when they have the presidency and control both houses)... but they just can't ever seem to be able to come up with the solutions that actually work.

The Biden energy policies have 100% had an adverse impact on fuel prices... they went up immediately after he was elected and have done nothing but climb steadily ever since (except for a random lull or two)... anybody saying differently is nothing but a liar.

We've had another entire year of the "pandemic" since Biden started with the executive orders reversing the Trump energy policies and "democrat politically dictated lockdowns" were still in place until less than two months ago... and Putin's been in the news for less than a month.

That's not the difference in our overall fuel prices. That's just the snowball effect due to the idiotic decisions that were made previously that set us up for this potential to begin with.

Gas prices were already a joke under Biden. Now they are astronomical.

But nice to know what the new talking points are at least, for the "not a democrat(s)".

For all the hacks on this board…. This is what I said about the video I posted from Tucker Carlson…

An excellent analysis to dispel the Witches crap above…

Yea Chem, that's my biggest argument over all of this. Let's look at how much crap Trump got over all of the covid stuff. 200k+ deaths were all his fault. Could he have done anything different, maybe. Everything was Trump's fault because he was the president at the time when this pandemic happened, as claimed by liberal media and democrats.

Now, fast forward a year and half later. More deaths, even with a vaccine. Record inflation and record gas prices. But none of it is Biden's fault, even though he is the sitting president at the time of all of this. Can you start to see where I'm coming from? It's not so much about the arguments for or against, it's the clear hypocrisy and the message we're sending to the growing number of people in our country that can't seem to think for themselves.

And don't get me started on the sports media. Lol

Even based on the Forbes article, one could argue that the gas prices are still Biden's fault, because all of his aggression wouldn't have happened if Trump was in office. NordStream 2 wouldn't have happened allowing Europe to be as dependent on Russia for oil. And yes Keystone could've been very close to operational allowing for more oil to come in and provide Europe.

Some things never change. Including the lie that they're Democrats. Truman would never claim this mob as his and Kennedy probably wouldn't, either. But I also do have to say that they also may be lying about "keep repeating it". After all, they're going to have a problem doing just that if they feel like we need another pandemic lockdown come September or we have an even bigger bear market than we do now, a distinct possibility.

Unfortunately, that's easier said than done.. We should start the transition; however, it's going to take years to correct.

So much of our component manufacturing is done in Asia (mostly in China). We just don't have enough component manufacturing and/or any of the needed manufacturing in the US. Once the component manufacturing is done, then the assembly is next. I think we could establish the domestic assembly process much faster than the manufacturing of components process. That said, the components would have to be shipped here, from Asia, and the assembly could happen; however, this will cause a delay in time to market.

Also, semiconductors are made in Asia. Almost everything we use contains them. This is why Taiwan has become a strategic alliance with the US.

I can get into a long discussion on how we got here; however, that will cause a different debate that people may not want to have...

The US has "ZERO" strategic interest in Ukraine. Who's kids do they want to send in? Where are we going to ge the money? Then, if if we should do something, how?

What's happening in Ukraine is awful; however, its not our war to fight!!! Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham want to do more, militarily! W-T-F?
