If you keep saying the Keystone pipeline had no impact maybe someone will believe it one day.

to be fair he said no impact on short term supply. Do I think it has an impact on oil prices? Yes because OPEC would increase production to drive down the price of oil to make it less profitable to see that pipeline through.

This is the point that I'm trying to get across. There isn't too much of a short term change in the supply, but when your dealing with commodities trading and speculation, which controls the price of oil, and now the government of one of the biggest consumers in the world is trying to get rid or your product of course the price is gonna skyrocket.

-I know that was a run on sentence but I couldn't figure out where to put a period at-
I think you also need to recognize Civ's point that demand is currently out pacing supply globally, which is the biggest reason for the change in oil prices.
Not saying that civ doesn't have a point, but when our gas prices started to go up we didn't have a issue with supply/demand

Civ, understanding the process of leased land will help. Yes, leased land has stabilized; however, the permit use of the land has stymied.

Additionally, a good percentage of land leases are not financially viable for the oil companies; so, even though your arguments appear fairly accurate; you're truly not painting the complete story.

Also, regardless of what you think, the price for a barrel of oil has gone through the roof. This is prior to the war in Ukraine…

$60 to fill up a VW sedan today. Thank a Biden voter. Oil was around $50 when he took over. It was tickling triple digits BEFORE this Ukraine debacle so don't even try to blame this on anything other than his policies. Thing is, this shouldn't be a surprise based on the Dems' infatuation with destroying the oil/gas industry. If you voted for Biden, you deserve to be materially harmed by these policies because you voted for them eyes wide open.
Filled up at Exxon in Edenton for 84 at lunch today

Wow…The push is on to blame gas prices and inflation on Putin. Don't believe the hype. The blame lies at the feet of Joe Biden and his supporters.

Why?

Are you saying we shouldn't ban Russian oil and gas imports?

Or that banning Russian oil and gas hasn't impacted pricing significantly?

What specifically have "Biden and his supporters" done to impact short-term domestic supply of oil and gas?
in January 2021 when Biden was inaugurated the cost of gas was 2.42 on average in the US. Today it's 4.31 per gallon. The week before Russia went into Ukraine the average gallon of gas in the US cost 3.53.

I would buy the argument that the cost of gas going up .80 per gallon in the last month could be attributed to the the Russian invasion of Ukraine. But that still leaves gas at 1.11 higher on average when Biden because president.

I would also argue that the Biden administration policy against fossil fuels like gas and oil, along with the push to force the country to renewable resources (Psaki's words, not mine) play a huge role in the price of gas in the last year.

These are all general correlations and talking points, not actual causations.

This is supply and demand.

US crude supply dropped from 13,100 barrels a day in February 2020 to 9,700 mil barrels a day five months later, all before Biden was president. Gas prices remained low at that time because demand also remained low due to COVID.

Now demand is back to pre-COVID levels, but short-term supply remains well short of meeting demand. We're only producing 11,600 mil barrels a day.

So again, what specifically have "Biden and his supporters" done to impact short-term domestic supply of oil and gas? Are they preventing domestic oil producers from producing more oil? If so, how?

Here is the average gallon cost of gas per year during Trump's presidency
2017 - 2.53
2018 - 2.81
2019 - 2.68
2020 - 2.25

Here is the average cost of gas last year during Biden's first year
2021 - 3.09

Since we now have hard data lets look at your thoughts on COVID. Lets take the entire year of 2020 out of the equation for Trump and get rid of the 2.25 per gallon in 2020. If this is the case lets go ahead and pull the first 5 months of 2021 out for Biden as well which means that the average for 2021 isn't 3.09 but it is 3.31 due to less traffic during COVID.

So now we are looking at 2.68 per gallon in 2019 vs. 3.31 per gallon in 2021. With your thoughts on COVID I think that's fair now. With this being the case lets discuss the Biden administration and his policies.

Biden has taken the following actions
  • Cancelling the KeystoneXL pipeline
  • Suspense of oil and gas leasing
  • Denying tax deductions to oil and gas companies
  • not maintaining shipping lanes for oil and gas in the US
  • Not allowing oil companies to write off money spent to correct for natural resource damages
  • Removed tax credits to oil and gas companies
  • decommissioning and removing all oil rigs off of the southern california coast
  • Shutting down oil and gas on public lands
  • Banned leasing for oil and gas on public lands going forward.
Outside of all of this lets not forget the rhetoric from the Biden administration about pivoting from oil to renewable resources, even though the country doesn't have the ability to run off or renewable resources at this point.

Your next comment to me may be along the lines of "well the KeystoneXL pipeline wasn't operational yet". Oil pricing, like most other natural resources, has its pricing based on a whole lot more than just a set price. The price of a resource is greatly impacted by the direction that governments try to push their policies and with the US being one of the larger users of oil in the world and the US government being very anti oil in their policies right now it is going to drive up the cost greatly.

The Keystone Pipeline permit had no impact on short-term supply.

Biden's move to suspend new oil and gas leasing was blocked by a federal judge last summer. That issue has no impact on short-term supply.

Biden did not "shut down oil and gas on public lands." I don't even know what this means. There are 100,000 rigs on 25 million acres of BLM-controlled land currently utilized for production.

Exxon had its most profitable quarter in 7 years last quarter. Big Oil aren't heavily subsidized agricultural producers. Changing highly preferential tax treatment doesn't all of a sudden make producing oil and gas a money-losing proposition or disincentivize production in a consequential way.

95% of California's oil federal production is on-shore, and only 10% of CA production is on federal land anyway. 90% of California's production is on non-BLM land. Meaning, a few old, leaking, and in many cases long-inactive oil rigs off the CA coast have an infinitesimally small impact on total domestic production.

This is just more conclusion-ing. You start with the conclusion Biden sucks, which is fine and in some ways true, but then you ascribe things to him that don't hold up with any sort of rational analysis.

The truth of the matter is that oil and gas production fell 25% when COVID hit, before Biden was president, and it takes much longer to ramp production back up than it does to slash production. Since August 2020 when domestic production bottomed out until today, domestic demand has far outpaced the oil and gas industry's ability to ramp up production.

Oil production has been steadily increasing throughout Biden's term.

Biden's administration granted 35% more oil and gas permits in his first year in office than Trump did in his and US production is slated to add another 2 mil barrels a day over the next year.

Blame him for dumping too much stimulus money into the economy (true) or for anything else you want to but saying his administration is directly or primarily responsible for current gas prices is incomplete at best and completely erroneous at worst.
To quote another President of seventy odd years ago, also a Democrat, the buck stops here.

Imagine...if you will for a moment, a country where the media did their job honestly. Where they reported the truth, without bias or political affiliation. And politicians were called out for bold faced lies to the public. Imagine it!

We are so far gone in our media in this country. It's just stunning how the liberal media will do nothing about these statements, as far a calling them out for the straight bull**** that is being said. Everything she said is straight up lie.

People in this country better wake up. I believe they are. But, I worry that it's not happening fast enough.

I don't need to dispute what he said. Government printing money and the spending into an oblivion are two reasons for inflation. I just disagree how that is presented with all the extra dressing that isn't needed. I don't understand why it's so hard for you to understand that.

Lol, thanks for proving my point! I didn't state it was my news source or that he should be taken as gospel. My point is that arguing over which news source is better is like arguing over which turd would taste better. All news has become commentary because they all have an agenda.

Everyone should be looking at several points of view, and drawing common sense conclusions. If nothing else, Tucker can give you things to think about, unless you take a close minded approach.

Also, fear mongering is funny as he'll vindictive everything we've seen the last several years between Trump fabrications and pandemic hysteria. Lol

If you want to debate the merits of the video's specifics, that's fine but I'm going to defend myself when being specifically called out.

And then packgrad came into the discussion like someone put up a bat signal and here we are where we are.

BBW would have added nothing but to tell me that I'm an idiot and a shoe shine boy. So not sure how that fixes the discussion either

Also this demanding of answers is puzzling to me, why can't I just have a slightly different opinion without you guys asking questions so you can just dunk on me and not have any discussion? I don't demand answers from any of you. It's bizarre.
