Trying to keep this as apolitical as possible, I don't think it's a secret that many women and minority Americans feel like Trump has done an exceedingly poor job advocating for them.
If you're the coach of a team made up of mostly young African American men, or many/mostly gay women (USWNT) it's easy to see why, as one coach said, it becomes an issue of credibility with your players. It's not simply, "C'mon guys, it will be fun to go to the White House!" or an issue of 'respecting' the office.
When you feel like Trump is an affront to humanist principles, or you coach people who do, it's understandable why you opt not to participate in glad-handing with him.
