Georgia Tech was either losing this game or winning the whole thing.

This was their 14 straight NCAA regional without advancing to the Super Regional. Last Super Regional was 2006. Their confidence took a hit yesterday when they blew the game against Oklahoma. It was always going to be a mental battle today.

Still no doubt in my mind they were the best team in the nation. Run ruled SEC champion Georgia. Run ruled #4 national seed Auburn.

If anyone ever wanted to complain about what Avent accomplished, look no further then Georgia Tech. They haven't won a regional in 20 years. Meanwhile we've made it to Omaha 3 times and a couple other Super appearances.

That's a wild damn stat, I never would have guessed they haven't been to a super in that long.

Man what terrible coaching decision in WV vs Kentucky game. Cant leave that pitcher in. If WV loses this game thats rough.

College coaches as a whole overuse pitchers.


Especially if you watch any minor league games. Young prospects hardly ever pitch over 3 to 5 innings.

And then there was one. Nine-bid ACC will have just one team, North Carolina, in the supers. Tar Heels advanced with ease but the rest of the conference bows out in the first weekend.

Was talking to @aaronfitt about this, but it felt like the ACC after the pairing of GT-UNC at the top had teams that *could* make runs but had clear vulnerabilities. Those next seven teams that earned bids ultimately went 6-14 this weekend.

For the 2nd year in a row, only 9 of the 16 regional hosts advance to the super regional round

Last year, 5 of those 9 teams advanced to the CWS

Tennessee becoming only the 2nd top-seeded team to win it all in the super regional era in '24 was truly the anomaly

UNC doesn't have a cake walk but certainly easier path than the other side if they get to Omaha.

According to draftkings, yes. They are +370. Texas is +400, UGA +475, Miss State and Auburn are both +550. Everyone else is +1000
