NCAA TOURNAMENT: NC State Headed To Auburn

Auburn will kill this team tomorrow

I'm pulling Ryan, lazy as hell defensively tonight.

3 HR, 6 rbi. Solid evening

It feels like we've seen this before so I went back and did a little research. In Avents tenure we've had 3 tournaments where the host lost game one. 1999, 2019 and now tonight. First two we went 0-2 and were home in 24 hours.

Good thing UCF isn't a power hitting team…

Give them credit. They've played really well tonight.

UCF threw some bad pitchers later in the game and they blew through us

If Barry Bonds himself was standing there at the plate, Avent would pitch to him. Lol I can't believe we pitched to Williamson again.

Does ACC suck or SEC too? Or B1G also? #1 seed overall UCLA lost. Auburn lost. FSU lost. TENN lost. Prob more. I was at Canes game. Maybe it's just baseball and not a referendum.... but maybe that is too smart/sensible for some and not as fun to post on a message board for reactions...

C/DH/RF are easily replaceable. As much as I hate to say it, we can absolutely upgrade at 1st base too, especially with how average McHugh was in conference. CF/2nd/3rd will be tougher to replace, but it's not like we are replacing all americans there. Hopefully we can get back Ryan and R. Johnson. Those 2 + Serrano is a promising start.

Pitching needs a total overhaul. Does it start at the top? Who knows. Going into next year- who would you trust to get ACC innings? Nance, sure. Maybe Sam Harris? Garino/Hemric/Kitchens flashed but have to get a decent bit better, at minimum. Black wasnt good. Ragusa has too small of a sample size, IMO.

Pitching got boned by injuries. Any team that loses their 1/2 starters with half the season to play is screwed. Nobody now a days is made for that. Young guys will improve. I got no clue if any of them will get to Marhon or Dudan level as starters/main guys but plenty of talent there and guys will make jumps. Happens every year even though some don't think guys improve.

I completely understand pitching injuries derailed this season. But Andrews, Coop and Nance to a lesser extent all basically got worse- that is not good. Took a little bit of a chance on Collins Black and Garino and neither of those guys were reliable/good. Hentz too (even though I dont think people had expectations for him). The freshmen were all pretty average (at best) when it got to conference play. Hemric looked great against all the bad teams we played. Harris did some good things later in the year. Younger guys improving hasn't really been a strength of the program recently, and I know a lot will disagree with that. But we HAVE to get atleast 5-6 arms that will compete for serious innings next year, IMO.

Just saw suspended as was looking for final.

Guess we finish off game in the am and then turn around with elimination game an hour or so later.

Tried to say this last season about CM and people acted like I was crazy. He's a good player, not great. Deserves to be in the lineup but shouldn't be counted on near top.

Just really disappointing we have totally no showed this postseason so far. Blown out against a bad Duke team in Charlotte and then laying another egg last night.

Trotting out McHugh in the 3 hole all year was just ridiculous. Killed so many rallies this year.

Revamp the roster next year

When your are the #3 seed in a regional, you gotta do everything you can to win your first game. From pitching to hitting to fielding, I don't think we did.
