I'd put a lot of thought into going Marohn, Fritton, Nance on T/F/S this weekend. Especially if Consiglio and Smith throw well on Tuesday

Disappointing week to say the least. Rain cancellation was the highlight or D Smith facing a batter.

I would go LRL but agree you have to move Namce into the rotation at this point.

Not thinking at all about handiness, don't think it matters at all. Keeps Dom's schedule as is

Nance should be well rested since he wont have pitched for two full weeks heading into next weekend. Last appearance Thursday April 24th again Clemson.

I don't know how you come out of this weekend with your best/hottest pitcher not having thrown a single pitch.

He was almost certainly going to pitch today.

Maybe on short rest for this week yes. General weekend I would go Dom, Namce, Ryan

Maybe. Still had Dudan and Shaffner to go with Marohn. Didn't work out this weekend.

If the game came back from rain delay he would've thrown. Also think he would've been first up if Marohn couldn't get through 6 without a delay. If no weather and Nance didn't pitch things either went very well or very poorly.

I'd bet we don't see any changes. Fritton, Andrews, Mahron.

Why would you bet that. To me we are starting to get to a point of ridiculousness. Your best pitcher who is a starter profile needs to be in the rotation. This weekend was further proof of that.

He would have pitched today unless Marohn was under 80 pitches after 6.

I still like having Nance able to go 5+ out of the bull pen if needed

I'd like him to go 5+ as a starter... Maybe actually let us play with a lead for once, and not come home from Miami with him not throwing a single pitch.

I don't want him coming out of the pen on a Sunday like today, already down two games in a series and chasing runs in game three. That's ridicous.

I just haven't seen much of a willingness from Avent to change things up late in the season and it's hard for me to see him doing it now when he sits in first place with 2 weeks left.

Avoiding another loss today with the game cancelation could prove to be a huge win for State in the long run.

A loss today would have put us in a logjam with four other 9 loss ACC teams for spots 3rd-6th. Todays cancelation could be a huge help in getting a top 4 seed and bye for the ACC Tournament.

There's my silver lining for the week comment. I've been an angry posting SOB for the past few days so I felt the need to add something positive. LOL

Bats have been good. 2 games doesn't define the offense.

Continuing on the Nance discussion. We have largely been pairing Nance with Andrews on Saturday of late (not exclusively but often). The value of Nance has been to bring him in in the 4th or 5th and to go 4 or 5 innings in long relief of Andrews. Given Nance's stuff, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect he could be a 7 inning guy as a starter. So effectively, we are taking Andrews/Nance and splitting a game instead of just giving the ball to Nance and letting him handle the Saturday game largely on his own. It isn't like we are getting value from Nance on multiple outings on the weekend. We are just diluting him on Saturday vs an extending start on Saturday.

It is time to make the move for the postseason.

Agree. And this move becomes easier if Smith is coming back.

Instead of Andrews for 5 and Nance for 4, the numbers would say it is better to go Nance for 6/7 and then Dudan/Smith/Consiglio for 2 or 3.

Also, we've seen more of Potts recently so looks like the coaches are trying to work him in.

Yep didn't type it but was thinking same thing with Smith.

My other thought is, unless you dominate the regional (which we've done in the past), you're going to need four starters.

If you're State, wouldn't it make the most sense to have your four starters be: Fritton, Andrews, Marohn, Nance? Obviously you can play around with the order and play the matchups.

In an ideal world you go to Nance in the rotation, get Smith some innings down the stretch, start to stretch Shaffner out so he can be the longer relief guy and then have Dudan and Smith on the back end like last year. Andrews as another longer relief guy.
