I'd put a lot of thought into going Marohn, Fritton, Nance on T/F/S this weekend. Especially if Consiglio and Smith throw well on Tuesday

I thought it was F/S/S this week?

This afternoon’s NC State at Miami baseball contest has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

The Wolfpack (30-15, 15-8 ACC) will return to action Tuesday at UNCW with first pitch in Wilmington set for 6PM.

I would go LRL but agree you have to move Namce into the rotation at this point.

Nance should be well rested since he wont have pitched for two full weeks heading into next weekend. Last appearance Thursday April 24th again Clemson.
I don't know how you come out of this weekend with your best/hottest pitcher not having thrown a single pitch.

Not thinking at all about handiness, don't think it matters at all. Keeps Dom's schedule as is

He was almost certainly going to pitch today.

Maybe. Still had Dudan and Shaffner to go with Marohn. Didn't work out this weekend.

I'd bet we don't see any changes. Fritton, Andrews, Mahron.
He would have pitched today unless Marohn was under 80 pitches after 6.StateFan2001 said:Alex Gee said:BigLefty24 said:Alex Gee said:

I still like having Nance able to go 5+ out of the bull pen if needed

Why would you bet that. To me we are starting to get to a point of ridiculousness. Your best pitcher who is a starter profile needs to be in the rotation. This weekend was further proof of that.

I'd like him to go 5+ as a starter... Maybe actually let us play with a lead for once, and not come home from Miami with him not throwing a single pitch.
I don't want him coming out of the pen on a Sunday like today, already down two games in a series and chasing runs in game three. That's ridicous.

Bigger issue than which pitchers start is waking the bats back up.
Agree. And this move becomes easier if Smith is coming back.StateFan2001 said:
Continuing on the Nance discussion. We have largely been pairing Nance with Andrews on Saturday of late (not exclusively but often). The value of Nance has been to bring him in in the 4th or 5th and to go 4 or 5 innings in long relief of Andrews. Given Nance's stuff, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect he could be a 7 inning guy as a starter. So effectively, we are taking Andrews/Nance and splitting a game instead of just giving the ball to Nance and letting him handle the Saturday game largely on his own. It isn't like we are getting value from Nance on multiple outings on the weekend. We are just diluting him on Saturday vs an extending start on Saturday.
It is time to make the move for the postseason.

Instead of Andrews for 5 and Nance for 4, the numbers would say it is better to go Nance for 6/7 and then Dudan/Smith/Consiglio for 2 or 3.
Also, we've seen more of Potts recently so looks like the coaches are trying to work him in.
