VCU has some guys that can really run down the ball in the gaps.

There was really no need to take Fritton out. Let him battle out of that jam.
Next phase in renovation is player related, things that won't be seen by the fans. Per an interview Elliot did in the fall, the pitching lab, which is the biggest part of phase two, was still a year away. Phase three, the fan amenities, won't start until phase two is finished.

Not trying to overreact bc this is the first series, hope the freshman shows up tomorrow or we may lose the series....pitching has been awful today, nothing but batting practice for VCU and that isn't a good sign

Not a good day today. Pitching was not good at all.
Worst part about that loss IMO is we blew a 5-1 lead....losses happen, it's baseball, but we blew a lot of games late last season, hope that don't continue to happen this season

tough game for sure. fritton was really sharp for 4ish innings, then got away from him a little bit. poor stat line but he threw better than that. whitaker is who he has been for a couple years. threw strikes, didn't get hit too hard, but hard enough, and also didn't miss bats when needed. defense was pretty poor. offensively i thought we hit the ball pretty hard but man, it was homerun or nothing for us. 8 hits on the day. 4 homeruns. 4 singles. gotta find a little middle ground there.

Yup. And many to teams that aren't as good as VCU. I'm impressed with their squad. Not to mention they were a tournament team in 2021 and 2022.
Ethan had a good tweet on this. We have stuff to clean up obviously, but this is a good squad that we are learning things against.
