Win Scott went 5.1 IPs last night, 5 hits, 1 ER, 3 Ks, 2 BBs. ERA from the summer is 1.45 only giving up 9 hits in 18.2 innings.

Jacob Halford pitched too. 3 IPs, 2 hits, 2 ER, 7 Ks and 2 BBs. ERA of 6.60 for the summer over 15 innings. 21 Ks is a nice number.

Chase nixon went 2-2 and a BB. He is hitting .250 on the summer.

Looks like Scott and Dienes are pitching well this summer. Halford, not so much.

Both Dienes and Halford need to continue to work on their walk rate. For the summer Dienes is 4.6 per 9 innings (which is a big improvement over last summer). And halfords is 5.4 per 9 innings. Dienes is giving up less hits, Halford is striking more guys out. Lets hope the positives translate over to the fall/spring

Butterworth is now hitting .333 for the summer in 22 games. .398 OBP, .838 OPB, 6 doubles with a homerun. 6 stolen bases. He has 4 errors this summer, but is playing 2nd and SS.

Not a huge deal. Kids sign contracts to play in the summer leagues and some are temporary contracts that are just placeholders for kids that are on Team USA or some other commitment (draft prep, etc) for the first part of the summer. There are kids that played in the MLB Draft league (first 30 games of the summer) and that's over now, I believe, so some could move over to the cape. Once the draft ends and kids sign he could get asked to come back and fill slots from those that were drafted and are going to sign. Summer collegiate leagues can get wild.

A few updates from the weekend-

Jacob Dienes struggled in his start going 2 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits. 2 walks, 1 K. Summer ERA is 4.94.

Halford went 3 innings, gave up 2 hits, 2 earned runs. 2 walks, 1 K. Summer ERA is 6.50

Derrick Smith continued his nice summer, going 5 innings, giving up 1 unearned run. Struck out 5, walked 2, gave up 4 hits. For the summer, he has a 2.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 18/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings.

Just my opinion But I think that J.Dienes42 and J.Halford40 Backend of the Bullpen and D.Smith25 Midweek SP in 2024
