We played them what feels like ages ago and lost a close one then went 1-1 in the final two.
Their pitching seems to be shaky but have some really good hitters at the top half of the order.

To piggy back off this- they have one of the best closers in the country and have 2 other more than capable bullpen arms. We need to get to their starter early. Walters, the closer, is capable of going 2+ innings as well. And with the semi-finals on the line tomorrow, i'd expect him to come in as early as possible.
Ziehl has been their friday guy most of the year, so I am assuming he goes tomorrow. He really fooled us first time we faced him, he went 8 innings and 0 ER on 4 hits. That said, he has a 4.65 ERA and gives up a hit per inning, so he is getable.
Offensively they can hit. As a team they are hitting .301, getting on base at a 40% clip and slugging .528. FWIW, those numbers are all very comparable to us, and I consider NCSU to have a very solid offense.
There will be a good amount of rain Saturday and Sunday . Expect long delays if we make it to the weekend .

Interesting stat: NC State is 22-39 overall versus Miami but is 6-1 against the Hurricanes in the ACC Baseball Championship.

They have one of the best closers in the country who did not pitch against us for whatver reason, Andrew Walters.Whitetailpack said:

Yohandy Morales, 3rd base, going to be a first round pick. He's a stud and very much looks the part.
Otherwise, it's a pretty typical Miami baseball team. They have some power arms and a lot of guys who can hit homeruns. Blke Cyr is another name to watch. Pretty special talent for a fresh.
The acc tournament game against Miami last year in Charlotte was a fun one to be at!

The Tommy White 3-homer game. Miami led 4-1. I remember it was another Willadsen game. He seems to have started a lot of important games in his career.FlockaWolf said:

It makes the top seeds use pitchers….tasks bullpens even if they don't throw ones that throw often. It's fairer than not playing those games.

Per the box score, Pilolli did not homer versus Miami. He hit a blast against Pitt, around 1:00 in this video.

Last season against Miami it was White three times and Soles once as far as homers. Somewhere else I wrote "starting" but Willadsen did not start that game. He came in during the second or third inning, if I recall correctly.

Agreed. They need to play the meaningless game to make them use some pitching, even if it is lower in the pen and rotation. Not all teams do that. UVa threw a regular starter yesterday vs Ga Tech but they want a top 8 finish.
