Exactly Rob. Glance has nothing to do with Hart and their situations aren't even close to similar.
Nationwide search? Why? You've got two of the best options literally on-site and less than an hour from campus in Chris Hart and Justin Haire at Campbell.
An outside the box guy that would be a great hire for someone, IMO, is Landon Powell HC at North Greenville. He was an Apex kid that was an absolute stud in HS, went to UScar and played in the pros as well. He's killing it at the D2 level winning a natty last year and 5 conference championships in the 8 years he's been HC.
College baseball is regional for the most part and with the massive amount of talent in the SE (specifically NC) looking outside the region isn't the best idea, IMO. The next guy better be able to hit the ground running as a recruiter in our region.
Bingo. Whoever it is has to get dudes, and I think Hart has proven that he can do that. And I know this board has been dominated by coach talk re. decision making recently, but so much of this sport is getting great players on your roster. I'm also going to go on a tangent about development because I don't think many places have better coaching or raw talent than NCSU, just better resources, and WFU is the best example of that.
You've rightfully mentioned multiple times before that Wake's great pitching isn't coincidental. They recruited good pitchers but also built a state-of-the-art pitching lab that is monitored by a team lead by a doctor in biomechanics. It's no accident that they have multiple guys that can pump 95+ and lead the country in Hits allowed, Runs allowed, ERA by 0.83(!), K/BB Ratio, Strikeouts, WHIP, and are second in BB/9. Historically good pitching. Maybe the best team pitching season ever.
Recruiting rankings per Perfect Game since 2019:
2019: WFU: NR - NCSU: 30
2020: WFU: 16 - NCSU: 31
2021: WFU: 35 - NCSU: 28
2022: WFU: 51 - NCSU: 18
I guess my point is to convince people to try to imagine what can get done when you recruit at a pretty high level, we've recruited better than WFU historically and recently, and provide the staff with the resources to really develop players. How much better would the arms on our roster be if they had 3-4 years to develop in the "Carlos Rodon Pitching Lab" (That Avent said was coming) like Wake's pitchers have been able to do?
