Elliot just doesn't manage the game very well. No way I pitch to their hottest hitter with 1st base open. Walk him and possibly get a dbl play etc. Just don't let him be the one to beat you.

You're assuming we get in to the acct? We likely need to win 6 of 9 in these last three acc series to get in.

I doubt he has completely checked out but something is off. The last two years we have massively underachieved and it's all been self inflicted. At some point we all lose that fire inside of us. I feel like the Omaha trip took its toll on Avent and led to him becoming satisfied, complacent, over it, or whatever you want to call it.
Hating losing doesn't take effort. Grinding 24/7/365 takes a ton of effort and at some point in all of our lives we lose the drive to do it the way we once did. Getting to the office an hour later or delegating something you used to do yourself could be the difference in winning and losing.
Too many mistakes tonight to pull out the w. On to tomorrow in what feels like a must win.

This team is just so frustrating. Love going to games on the weekends but you really are just waiting for someone to do something stupid.
We needed 10 to win, but keep bunting Eliot!!!

To my knowledge, Avent does none of that. To me, he runs the ship the same way he did in 2013 and 2021.

He didn't do anything wrong that would keep him from being the closer, other than walk a guy. If a dude hits a high outside 94 mph fastball that far, there's nothing you can do. That's Dom's strikeout pitch and the guy caught it. If anything he shouldn't have been pitching to him at all, but that's not Dom"s decision.

This is just my opinion but I would like to see a coaching change in baseball. I really appreciate Avent and everything he has done to our program but I would like a fresh start next year.
