Disagree. Let your number 3 hitter hit. You only have 9 outs left and you give them one. Two games in a row it has not worked.

This. In general any bunt, in basically any situation is a terrible call. You should never bunt. Ever. It's just giving outs away

We scored 2 in the first in the same situation same batter and everything. But you have to execute.

Bunting while you are losing is just a terrible strategy. Outs are precious and you just willingly gave one away with your 3 hole hitter.

And guess what, even if it was a good bunt we still wouldn't have scored after a pop out and ground out.

I have to agree with Andrew Sanders that we just seem to not have a sense of urgency to get a sweep

Totally different situation in the bottom 1st in a tie game vs. down a run in the 7th.

I don't like the strategy and never will like the strategy. Cozart is hitting over .340 let him hit. It wasn't a bad bunt, but you just give outs away. Yes it worked in the first inning so your 1 for 3 this weekend. Cozart is hitting better than that.

Well, that's a stretch b/c if he moves the runners over with the bunt the entire situation changes so you can't (or you can, I guess) assume the same outcome happens when the entire situation is now different. Makes for a fun argument tho.

Of course you can't assume the same two plays would have happened after but I'd just rather have 3 chances to get a hit than 1 chance for a productive out.

Cozart hasn't put good wood on anything today. He's also grounded out twice and in his last AB against that lil lefty, he looked silly on 3 straight breaking balls. Wasn't even close. I'm not a huge fan of bunting but it's a situational move and in that situation, I'm fine with it. Make the play and maybe it's a different outcome.

But who cares b/c Serrano set one flying! BOOM!

Definitely agree that Cozart looked pretty bad against Armstrong. Also gotta tip your cap to Armstrong on his fielding. If he doesn't make a perfect scoop and fire to 3rd then Marcy is gonna easily be safe at 3rd.

The bunt vs no bunt is the same as the conversation after a failed 4th down conversion. "Should've thrown the ball" "Should've run a sneak" "Why were we in the shotgun" "Why were we under center"

If it works, it's cool. If it doesn't, it's easy to criticize.

Exactly. It did not work for NC State in the first inning of the 2015 ACC Championship Game against FSU, and I know plenty of folks who are still upset about it,

Yeah that pretty much how I feel. If you're going to be mad it's usually more about execution than strategy.

He definitely fielded his position very well on that one. Too bad he wasn't a righty pitcher b/c bases would've been loaded, as a righty ain't making that play.

It was the 2015 ACC Championship in Durham. NC State curb-stomped Virginia en route to the final, and the Cavaliers would go on to win the national title. UVa went 15-15 in the ACC that season.

The decision to bunt was fine. You move two runners over to second and third with one out. A ball in play by your cleanup hitter basically ties the game, and a base hit gives you the lead.

Again, the execution is the problem. The bunt has to he down the third base line to force the third baseman field the bunt. You absolutely can't let the pitcher field that bunt and even have the option to throw to third for the lead out. Basic baseball. It's amazing how every decision to bunt leads to the conclusion that "Elliott is an idiot".
