This is starting to reek of corruption. It is still unfathomable to me with all the money that is involved in sports and the additional money involved in making NCAA tournaments, etc. that an "unbiased" group of college affiliated people are choosing who makes the tournaments when there is literally a statistically driven calculation for how strong different teams are.

I guess the selection shows are just too much drama to do away with. We're probably feeding into their success by driving up ratings when they make a stupid decision.

What a total hatchet job…I feel terrible for Coach Avent and the players. I will not be watching a single second of college baseball playoffs. Not much of a needle mover but it's something. Boo should encourage fans and sponsors to boycott the tourney, if nothing else to make some sort of statement of protest

I wouldn't be looking at the NCAA as a whole, I'd be looking at individuals on selection committees possibly taking payments / bribes to push certain teams up and/or certain teams down.

Hating the NCAA should be the one thing we all agree on. I don't understand why we have to turn on our own every time we get screwed by the NCAA. They are the bad guy here, there's no mystery about who is to blame. Go fire off a "**** you" tweet to the NCAA baseball committee and pour a tall drink that we all deserve today.

Agreed, I think based on the criteria we got screwed. HOWEVER it's hard for me to be too upset going 14-15 in conference and getting left out. Like if you can't even have an above .500 record in conference how sure can you be regardless of what happens in the ACC tournament.

Isn't RPI a tool specifically designed to go deeper into a team's resume? Like I said earlier, they use metrics to justify their decisions as they see fit. For every metic that showed we were below ole Miss, there were two that showed us above. I hate to link to another site, but they did good job breaking down a lot of metrics.

Yep. The "feel test" to "go deeper into the actual results" is just coded language for "I wanted to do whatever the hell I wanted with no repercussions". Any and all selections should be defensible with data and they should have expounded further than stopping at that ridiculous statement. They need to be challenged by journalists on it too…

Exactly. We are all salty because we are fans and that's to be expected, but those guys don't have any vested interest in us being in the field. They are looking at the sport from 10,000 feet, and they think we got screwed. Outside of some UNC themed accounts, pretty much every one associated with college baseball thinks we got screwed here. Yeah, win more games and it doesn't matter, that's always the case, but what happened today was wrong.
