TOP 10 PLAYS: No. 9 Pratt's Interception vs. UNC

July is here, which means football is right around the corner! 

We started a month-long feature at Inside Pack Sports where we look back at NC State's top offensive and defensive plays from the 2017 season.

The plays are selected on a variety of factors, ranging from level of difficulty, overall impact, importance to the game/season, etc...

James, Steve, and Bryant reviewed the best plays and submitted their top ten plays on each side of the ball.  We put together a composite list, and we will be releasing each play daily, so enjoy!

Yesterday we began our Top 10 defensive plays from the 2017 season, and today we're back with No. 9: Germaine Pratt's game-clinching interception in the North Carolina win.

Germaine Pratt could have a huge, huge senior year, and plays like this are exactly why.

He wasn't a regular starter, but what makes Pratt so special is physically, he has the measurables you look for at linebacker and is physical in the box while also being a very, very good coverage player.  

Here is how effective Pratt was in 2017.

So not only did he have the third-best run stop percentage among ACC inside linebackers, he also yielded just a 45.4 passer rating when targeted, which was fourth-lowest among Power 5 linebackers.

On this play, Pratt's outstanding coverage skills are on display, as he smothers Carolina slot receiver Austin Proehl before quickly finding the ball for the interception.  Pratt becomes a playmaker once he has the ball in his hands, nearly returning the pick for a touchdown.
