NC State assistant coach A.W. Hamilton answered questions from the Wolfpack's radio crew following the Notre Dame loss.  Here is the audio from the interview and a collection of quotes from Hamilton.

AUDIO: A.W. Hamilton Interview

Opening Statement...
We needed to guard the three and we obviously didn't' do that very well in the first half. We have to learn from it.  We have to help these guys understand scouting reports and come out to better starts.

We just didn't do that in the first half and got ourselves into a hole we couldn't get out of.

There seemed like too many turnovers in the first half... seemed like you need a hot start in the second half. What was the conversation like at halftime?
We addressed that we needed to run them off the three-point line.

We also thought we had a chance to come back ni the second half, play inspired, and get back in the game.

We just couldn't get anything going on the offensive end. We had some open looks, we just couldn't get it going.

Concerned at all that through two ACC games NC State hasn't been able to create easy offense with the defense?
Yes, that is a concern.

We didn't meet our deflection numbers. Our defense has to create offense with this team.

We tried to get the ball inside in the first half and missed some opportunities. Braxton had a couple of opportunities... we just didn't make great passes.  Our bigs have to hold them off a little better.

There's a lot to improve on, this is just our second game.  We're going to keep fighting. We have to get back to work.

Do you think too much in the first half you tried to force-feed the ball in the post?
We want to get the ball inside to Omer, Lennard, and Malik.

Those guys are shooting a really good percentage, and we need to get those guys more touches.

We tried to do that and unfortunately it didn't go as planned, but we'll go back to the drawing board and improve on this.

You have two bigs out there and D.J. Harvey as a 6-6 player can shoot the three and do some things with the ball in his hands.
You have to give D.J. Harvey credit. He played really well in the first half.

He was on our scouting report, and we knew he was very capable.  He was a highly-ranked player out of high school... very talented young man.  He had a great first half.

He really gave them a huge lift. You have to give them a lot of credit.

Mike Brey has always been a guy who could make some moves when there are adverse situations... be able to win.  He was able to do it again tonight.
Give him a lot of credit on this win, it was a special night for him.

He has a very good team. They have some great leadership, and some veterans who play really well together.  They win a lot of games for a reason.

We'll get better. We like our team. We just have to continue to improve. We'll be fine. This is just the second game in the ACC, and we have to get back home. We have to improve, and we will. We'll do that.

First step to get better is for the Head Coach to not duck a presser after putting forth an all-around piss poor effort.

Putting two freshmen PGs into the fire is killing us, especially when almost all the senior leadership seems nonexistent

I understand frustration after another ugly basketball game, but I fail to understand how a coach's comments at a post-game interview will make the team better. I am sure he has already said enough that we know what to expect out of the present players. Does it really matter who comments?
