RALEIGH, NC -- NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan has announced that Head Softball Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift has been relieved of her duties effective immediately and will not coach the remainder of the 2023 season.

“After careful consideration, we decided to make a change in the leadership of our softball program.  We will begin a national search following the conclusion of the season.  We wish Jennifer the best in the future,” said Corrigan.

Assistant Coach Patrick Swift will also not return.

The Wolfpack will travel to Virginia Tech this weekend for a three-game series beginning Friday.

I don't follow softball; was this a job performance issue or something else?

I know for a fact it was more than on field performance, but just the timing of it tells you that

Truth, she's not well liked. Former pitcher says this

It was over due

but what did she do that was so egregous as to be dismissed maybe 1/4 of the way through the season. I mean, unless it was embezzlement or some kind of sexual harassment thing, what tipped Boo over the edge that didn't tip him over the edge at the end of last year (we stunk last year too...)
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

The possibility of every player leaving.

so player revolt. IF so, surprised nothing more has come out about this. Where is it being discussed? I mean, we are DFL in ACC, so it isn't like airing dirty laundry in public will "hurt the program" more than it already is?

There is a tweet from a former player above in this thread. In the version of this thread on the football board there are more tweets and some accounts from parents who had kids at her camps.

Well, airing dirty laundry when it comes to things done in private is not going to happen. As stated there are plenty of former players/parents statements on other threads. The University isn't going to air such things until it's appropriate to do so. We as a fan base are not privileged to know everything.
