Today's item is a NC State basketball signed by Wolfpack legend David Thompson!

Considered the greatest basketball player to ever play in the ACC, David Thompson isn't just a NC State legend, he's one of the best basketball players of all-time.

Thompson arrived at NC State with high expectations, and he didn't disappoint. In his first season, he led NC State to an undefeated season in 1972-73 when he averaged 24.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.  The Wolfpack couldn't compete for a NCAA title that year because they were banned from postseason play, but that changed the next season.

Thompson led the Wolfpack to a 30-1 mark and the NCAA title in 1974, as he averaged 26 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.  He won ACC Player of the Year for the second straight season and was one of the top two players in college basketball.

Thompson's final season was one of the best ever in the ACC.  He averaged a staggering 29.9 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Wolfpack, again being tabbed ACC Player of the Year.

He was a three-time consensus first-team All-American.  Thompson also won the ACC Player of the Year all three seasons he suited up for the Wolfpack.

Thompson's 44 remains the only number NC State has ever retired in men's basketball.  It was retired at his last home game.

He was drafted No. 1 overall in the 1975 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks.  Thompson was also drafted No. 1 overall in the 1975 ABA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.  He chose to sign with the Nuggets and was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.

Below you can see photos of the David Thompson signed NC State basketball!

Saved the best for last
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. Jim Valvano.
