The Regional Qualifying Scores won't come out til next week, but we are ranked #28 in average score (which includes a 193 early in the season that brings us down.

Just a quick look at our six scores for the season, we have 193, 194, 194, 195, 195, 196 in that order. Clearly we are improving each meet, and in a sport where only the top six regular season scores impact your NCAA ranking/placement, we are looking good.

Our three best road scores: 195.375, 195.200, 194.600
That looks pretty good. Need to replace that 194, but with four more road meets, that won't be a problem. Generally the goal is 195.5+ on the road, and 196+ at home, so hopefully we will replace all three of these scores, but the two 195s should be good enough for NCAA placement.

Our three best home scores: 196.400, 194.925, XXXX
We haven't even had 3 home meets yet, although we only have 5 total, so there isn't much room for error. The 194 obviously has to go but the 196.4 looks really, really strong. Our next two meets are at home, so hopefully we can hang in that 196 area and solidify our NCAA situation.

Top 36 teams make the NCAA

I was wrong last week, the Regional Qualifying Scores won't come out til next week. I mean it this time. So the rankings are still based on raw average, which at this point of the season isn't the best indicator, since our average is still carrying some low scores from early in the season. With that said, according to roadtonationals dot com we have moved up to #27. I would imagine our RQS next week will be in the mid twenties. Especially if we have a good weekend (two meets over the weekend)

Here is a look at where we stand:
Our three best road scores: 195.375, 195.200, 194.600

That looks pretty good. Need to replace that 194, but with four more road meets, that won't be a problem. Generally the goal is 195.5+ on the road, and 196+ at home, so hopefully we will replace all three of these scores, but the two 195s should be good enough for NCAA placement.

Our three best home scores: 196.400, 195.850, 194.925

Only two home meets left. It would be nice to get a 196 to push that 194 off the board. Last week's 195.850 against UNC is pretty solid.

This week: Friday home against W&M and WM, Sunday at Kent State

Top 36 teams make the NCAA (6 regionals of 6 teams). Top 18 get protected seeds (three in each region), Bottom 18 get placed regionally (aka, 19, 20, and 21 could technically be in the same region). More update to come next week.

Regional qualifying scores are out and we sit at #25 this week. Comfortably in the top 36 to make the tournament, but 7 slots away from a top 18 rank, and a protected seed in the tournament. Keep in mind that regionals set up like this:

Ranks:
1-12-13 plus three closest regional teams ranked somewhere between 19-36
2-11-14 plus three
3-10-15 plus three
4-9-16 plus three
5-8-17 plus three
6-7-18 plus three

Of those regionals, the top two qualify for nationals. So if you don't finish in the top 18, then you must knock off two top 18 teams to advance to nationals (for only the second time in school history.

Our current RQS is 195.435. The top 36 cut line is 194.775, the top 18 cut line is 196.015

Our counting scores are (minimum of 3 road scores, drop the highest):
Road:
195.400 (at Kent State)
195.375 (at LSU)
195.200 (at UNC)
Home:
196.400 (vs Pitt)(will be dropped)
195.850 (vs UNC)
195.350 (vs W&M)

Only 4 meets left (3 on the road). For what it's worth, the rule is a minimum of 3 of the top 6 scores must come from the road, but there is no maximum, so if for some reason, we really do well on the road to end the season, we could have 4 road scores, 2 home in our RQS.

This week is at New Hampshire. If we score 196.400 or more, it would improve our RQS to 195.675. That would move us up to #23 in the country. If we score 195.200 or below, then it won't be in our top six scores. So that is the window that we are looking to hit.
